I believe its decisions like this that is continually adding to the decline of world boxing......or am I wrong. Ward has proven beyong doubt he is the No.1 man at 175lbs & this bull**** making him ' super champ' is once again all about the sanctioning monies. Now we will have another fighter parading around with a belt that they truly haven't won by beating the legit champ. Thoughts.
Sadly thats just the way it is. It's almost impossible when you're a unified champ to fulfil your obligations to all the orgs. The Ring still has him no.1 but yeah Bika or whoever will be able to call themselves champion but everyone knows who the top dog is at 168.
Yeah 168lbs......thanks stiffy......Dawson fight got me mixed......your right though god I miss 1 belt per division champions.
When you get to the level Ward is at, then alphabet titles don't mean ****. Those select few fighters who are top level pound 4 pound don't really need titles, as everyone knows they are the best. It's a shame because "World Champion" use to mean just that, but how the **** can you justify 3 world champions in 1 sanctioning body, let alone accounting for all the alphabet sanctioning bodies.
Thats why the UFC is getting more n more fans in............one belt.......always top contenders.........no easy match ups to the title.........thats what Boxing use to be in the good ol days.
Sadly not going to happen this yr jw think the Scotsman and his boys have got it as much as I hate them
..yep good post:good ..it's a very sad situation alright..as if it wasn't bad enough back in the late '80's early '90's..now it's worse..and i can't see it changing anytime soon..:-(
..yeah ****ed if i know either...unfortunately the sport is a basket case.. ..it's chokin' to death on Alphabet soup.. ..but it's been goin' on so long it's been accepted as the norm..:dead
