How would Patterson have done against Walcotts opposition?

does a lot better during the first career, I dont see him losing any of those tbh.

Loses to Louis and rocky but I wouldn't pick to lose to any others though. I pick him over Charles.

 

He'd definitely beat Rex Layne.

 

He would certainly get mixed results., and I doubt that he would do as well as Walcott

Walcotts resume is prety stacked with punchers.

 

Couldn't disagree more buddy.. and some might say Walcott has wins against some of these in his "second" career as well

 

Nonetheless, Patterson would smoke Walcott if they fought prime for prime.

 

I think he does a little worse, he doesn't win the first Louis fight. He probably beats Simon at his best mind

I don't see why he would. I could see Walcott outboxing him or catching him with something big and knocking him out.

Mate, with all due respect, you can't make every thread about Louis beating Walcott.

I am saying Floyd loses to Louis and Rocky. I am saying I would favour him over everyone else. He was much betters managed and trained and wouldn't drop the silly results early days.

He might exchange knockouts with Layne or someone of that calibre but chances are he beats them.

 

Where did I even bring up Louis vs. Walcott? I was saying Walcott was considered by some to be on his second career by the time he met some of these people and won.

 

For me his second career started in 1944. From then until the rocky fight was his prime imo. Before that 4 year break he was a journey man by any description.

Patterson was never of that description and would not have been I'll prepared against those first career opponents. Once Patterson hit his prime he wouldn't struggle with the opponents jersey did. Maybe he would always lose to maxim but it's hard to take 8 rounders seriously imo.

My point is Patterson had much better backing, training and conditioning thus fought with much better consistency. This is why he was able to have a much better career imo. I believe Floyd had more talent and would fare better against the opponents jersey met through his career (apart from Louis and rocky who probably bomb him out)

 

A Charles fight could be a war......and their sizes were similar.

In a 3 fight series, Charles wins 2, Floyd 1.

Not an easy time no, but he could certainly be the man to end a long year winning streak for both bivins and Charles. Johnson had a great jab but was it as good as pattersons? Certainly not as quick anyways. Yeah I'd favour Floyd over Charles, Bivins and Johnson.
