Chad Dawson doesn't want to be called "Bad" anymore

I wouldnt want that to happen but, also, listen, Chad has done this MANY times over his career...he drew first blood. Ive worked with a lot of fighters and never had this happen but enough is enough, Chad is VERY quick to throw you under the bus, dont you see that? I just dont feel like playing the nice guy this time and letting people form their own opinions, I want them to know the circumstances. Its BUSINESS now.

 

Floyd Sr. snuffed that out from the start and I think that is why he just sent Dawson on his way it wasn't worth working with the guy because of these things.....

 

I used to think Chad Dawson just didn't give a **** about anyone but his family: his team, his fans, those of us who have had to endure his fights over the years... Now I'm not sure if Chad is capable of giving a **** about anything. What a vacant husk.

 

I've given you credit for sticking to your guns on this one and you're right,we'll have to disagree on this one or it'll just go around and around.

Just to be clear about my motivation here;I had went on record on this forum that as I was a fan of IJS(and that was well before I knew of any posting here or correspondence) and from being someone who disliked Chad,I felt he had made an excellent move and changed my view on him.I cannot think of another occasion in many years where I had no problem with Hopkins losing a fight beforehand,so my views weren't influenced by that fact that IJS posted here.
I think you're also giving too much credit to a number of people who make up a fair chunk of boxing fans,i.e,the ones who continually post drivel here and believe anything that comes out of certain people's mouths
There's a poster who springs to mind immediately,and if Richard Schaefer came out and said Broner had knocked out Sonny Liston in sparring he would post a thread on the assumption that it was true.
My point is,many more people than you think are gullible,and there will already be a number of people who believe that Scully is an inferior trainer just because Chad said it,and whether we like it or not,these are fans of other more influential fighters and the circle becomes endless.
Never underestimate the power of stupidity.
There were people posting that Chad should never have got back with Scully because he looked in some way inferior( I think stiff was the term) and others(albeit a small number) posted similar comments(although I doubt they anticipated IJS's presence here at the time,and that was before my thread on this issue)
I watched the first old fight I could find to disprove this,and whilst I accept that the opposition wasn't Ward,Chad looked superb.He was so fluid that he almost looked slick.
But again,there are people who will remember other posters saying he was poor during his first spell with Scully.
If I feel that a figure who I am a fan of is getting a raw deal,I will comment on it,regardless of any possibility of them even knowing this site exists.
This was an issue I felt strongly about.A man's integrity as a trainer was brought into question and I wanted to debate the subject.The insight we were given was received very positively by most of the people who posted on it,but there's none so blind as those who won't see.
I invited John to comment well after I brought the subject up,so I'd ask that you understand that my feelings on this subject are in no way influenced by some desire to be seen as "Scully-friendly"
All he's done is defend his reputation,and when you say things like "he's slandering Chad"(I'm paraphrasing) that would suggest that Chad is telling the truth and John is lying.
This relates well to Scully's column I referred to earlier.I only wish Chad and others would give their side more often here.
And I think you know that things have changed now,and we can't be too selective about what's appropriate for public consumption when it comes public figures.
Until Chad proves otherwise,the only slander on show here has come from him.
I'm a bit old to be a subserviant fanboy mate.And I'm glad we could debate this without resorting to churlishness.

Scully, you have to be delusional to think Dawson is a mental good fighter. He always puts the blame on someone else instead of himself. I thought Ward did good against Dawson, beating the **** out of Dawson. No matter what people say against you it stands very clear that Dawson is the problem and not you. I remember you in the corner vs Hopkins, that you said in order to beat Bhop you'd have to outwork him, like Calzaghe did & i was like finally someone gets it! You are a great coach and don't listen to what haters have to say, only bitter Dawson fans who think you're the one to blame.

Thanks for those last two posts, I appreciate the words. Let me be clear, for better or worse, I like MANY MANY fighters and trainers in the game, like to interact with fellow boxing fans on these message boards and I do so knowing that being here under my name and commenting in defense of myself on topics that actually have to do with me opens me up to certain things. Thats cool, thats fair. But it is what it is, I love the game and the people in it, including (most of) you guys LOL On this subject I am telling you what it is, not what I think it is. IF I told you EVERYTHING there is to know you would DEFINITELY see that I am right but I wont do that to Chad, some things are supposed to be kept private. Ive told you what I feel is applicable. On the subject of his next fight against Adnois, I think it is very simple. Chad needs to BOX, box like he did when he was yoiunger, box in circles, be fast, be elusive...he cant afford to get hit by Adonis, no way, no how. The guy is a pure PUNCHER, period. This isnt rocket science. This is Chad's fight o win or lose IMO. The main intangible will be how the loss to Ward has physically and mentally affected him, if at all. I suspect that it has to a certain degree...HOW MUCH it has will decide the outcome of this fight I think.

 

Going on what you said earlier John,there's no sensible explanation for him going back to Eddie,and I don't think he's going back because they have some unbreakable bond with.(Percentage nice and low perhaps?Don't answer that BTW)

The way I see it,with all due respect to Eddie,Chad's his problem now,and the next big camp you're in charge of will have you sleeping a bit easier at night.
Onwards and upwards,and I urge you to check out Chad's fluidity in that fight I mentioned and think back to some old comments made on other threads.

In your opinion, what happened between Adamek/Johnson I and Johnson II? I thought Dawson was going to take the world by storm after the Adamek fight. He got sloppy toward the end, but he was a speed fighter with defense and range and threw perfect combinations. He's never demonstrated that since 2008.

Whatever happens from here, though, the guy unquestionably has had a great career. Numerous wins versus top-five opponents before the age of 30, the true LHW champ, etc. Considering that other American fighters received praise in advance of their accomplishments, Chad earned his in the ring.

You'll at least grant him that much, right? And I don't doubt a word you say on the training situation — it's never a good idea for a fighter that age to come down in weight — but I feel Dawson generally gets discredited on this board far more than warranted.

 

Oh, DEFINITELY, no doubt, Chad is a VERY talented boxer with tremendous potential and skills. I've always told him that , I meant it, and I'm not going to change that now because were not together, that would be foolish and transparent on my part. The guy can fight extremely well when he is on his game. I would say his problems (other than the weight issue against Ward) stem from him being distracted easily... when I trained him earlier in his career and then for the two Hopkins fights it was , for the most part fine..we clicked, he listened, we were more of a team...after the Hopkins fight there were just too many distractions, too many voices in his ear...it was different than the previous fights, thats all...

 

I dont care who's training him. I ****ing hate Dawson. Nothing personal, i want to see him get knocked out.
