How would Patterson have done against Walcotts opposition?

One wild card here is that Walcott matched well against punchers, and made no effort to avoid fighting them.

If Patterson keeps fighting guys like Murray, Sheppard, Gomez and Ray to stay busy, then one of them is likley going to clobber him.

 

Not just one.. problem a couple imo

 

It would not be a good road to title contention for Patterson.

 

We're all saying the same thing here. Someone would likely pull the upset but individually he would be favoured against them all.

I still say he emerges with a better record than jersey.

 

is this a butthurt thread made in order to degrade Patterson because he was by the majority voted greater than Walcott?

 

Patterson fought a well picked bunch,but got dropped by even the one-fight Radamaker...Floyd would get stopped by a lot of JJW opposition and Walcott fought a bunch of punchers and skilled punchers, sorry but wrong styles for Floyd and he would suffer some serious KO loses. Walcott hit too hard for Floyd and his boxing moves would keep Floyd confused...Charles was a much better Heavyweight than Floyd and the murders row guys that Walcott beat too rough for Floyd

Patterson is going to have his hands full with Tiger Jack Fox, let alone guys like Lee Q. Murray and Jimmy Bivins.

ATG power Liston clobbers him, and he was still rising. ATG right hand of Ingo hit him flush, and he was still rising. None of the guys mentioned would 'clobber' him. pfp Walcott might dec. Floyd but could go the other way as well. Why all the discussion about 5 or 10 or 15 HW's that would knock Floyd cold??? IMO he would frustrate virtually any 40's-50's HW with his slick style. Not to mention he would have been a force in the golden era of 70's HW's as well! Get off of the great hall-of-fame Floyd Patterson's back!!!

 

I feel like Floyd would do worse against JWW opposition than JJW did.. and I feel like JJW would've beaten floyd and does so by KO

 

Jersey was pretty bad in his first career. I can't see many greats doing worse tbh.

 

It is not so much that I would expect one of Walcotts murder row crew to beat him, but he would be playing Russian roulette every time he fought one of these guys.

Eventualy there would only be so many aces in the pack.

 

It might be the case that they would all have got similar results with the same circumstances.

 

Yeah but most great heavyweights started off with top class backing. I can't think of any other great heavyweights who started as a journeyman from the top of my head.
