Three world champions left, and all weigh 108 lbs and below.

Well, can't say Philippines has no one else left.

Just recently Moises Fuentes was named the mandatory challenger for WBO 108lb champ Donnie Nietes thereby making Merlito Sabillo, the WBO interim 105lb champ the regular champion.

So far we have Nietes (well, judging how the first fight go, Fuentes might upend him this time), Casimero in IBF both are 108, then Sabillo.

And Cuello gets his crack at WBC 105 title in the middle of the year.

We'll take the tiny guys for the meantime. Better than no champion at all.

 

Nobody cares about those divisions though.

I love boxing, I mean love that ****, and have never heard of any if those cats. Maybe I need to broaden my horizons, not saying they aren't good fighters, but Im saying if I don't know who they are...they must really be off the radar.

 

I get ya, not everyone digs boxers who weigh less than their dogs.

But the action usually is fast paced and there's enough guys who bang to satisfy your knockout fix.

But you are really missing out on a lot of them.

 

None are lineal champions though.

milan melindo gets a crack on wbo flyweight champ juan francisco estrada on july 27. philippines might get that belt back.

 

Estrada is no bum though- pushed Roman Gonzalez to the limit and beat Viloria. Tough fight for Melindo.

 

And Melindo's last win was against virtually a jr. flyweight.

Anyways, he might, but it's one hell of a fight before he wins it.

 

Throw a slick black boxer in the mix and you'll be all over those divisions.

 

There was once a man named Mark Johnson, I wonder if they are even aware of him.

 

Go back even further, and you can find guys like Hilario Zapata and Alfonso Gomez. Throw in Miguel Canto (a slick Mexican), and the from-the-textbook technician in my avatar, and you've got a bunch of guys in the lowest weight classes that Team Slick can appreciate.

 

I'm really interested on the Arthur Villanueva-Marco Demecillo fight. Two undefeated guys at 115. One is more battle-tested (Villanueva), having won a fight in Japan after getting dropped twice against a then world-ranked fighter and defeating a fellow Pinoy prospect, now world ranked Mark Anthony Geraldo, while the other clearly has a much stronger punch than the other (Demecillo), having stopped 9 of his last 10 opponents, albeit against much weaker opposition.
