Cotto, stronger...I think Castillo was more skilled but wouldn´t beat stronger guys like Cotto with that style.
Cotto. Stronger, bigger, harder hitting, could throw left hooks with Castillo and get the better of it, or box behind the jab and have success. Both were good fighters, but Cotto, before he started to seriously feel his weight cut, was pretty darn impressive at 140, and Castillo never has been.
Could we just not let 135lb Castillo cut less weight? There's no size difference between the two. Castillo would give Cotto massive hassle IMO. Cotto can become ragged under pressure. I will take Miguel via decision but 140lb Cotto would need to adapt as he did at 147 and box in the later rounds to take it maybe.
But there is a size difference. Cotto at 24 was tipping in at 155 pounds on the night. This was before he hit his prime. Meanwhile, Castillo consistently weighed in around 147, as he did in his battles against Mayweather and Corrales.
Castillo was shot at 140, agree with Flea let the Corrales 1 or Mayweather version cut less weight Cotto has the more speed of the 2 so I see him taking an early lead. But I think after the early round Castillo starts to take over, applying pressure and backing Cotto up and maybe scores a late KO at this weight or goes to a close decision either way. He came in the 150s for some of his LW fights. Cotto was drained at 140 when he was coming in the high 150s. Nearly got ko'd by Torres and looked out against Corley. Ndou backed Cotto back and had him boxing on the backfoot. It really wasn't a good weight for him
Castillo is what, 147-150 at his very best? How much was Miguelito weighing in for 140 fights on the night? If I'm wrong, my apologies.
I don't think Cotto has any K.Os as aesthetically pleasing as Castillo's second fight with Corrales. Okay, we have to take a little kudos from Castillo for coming in overweight. But I think this is a fairly even fight, though as I've said previously I'd give the edge to Cotto.
