I agree, Mosley hadn't won in 3-4 not sure fights. Hadn't lood good since he fought Margarito. Cotto looked good against Margarito, put on a valiant effort against Mayweather. Mosely was far far gone, cotto still had a bit of fight in him.
You can search the threads here, there is a thread just after the Margarito Cotto fight, When Miguel agreed to fight Pacquiao, has a poll, that poll ask is Cotto shot, this is going into the Pacquiao fight 95% of the Mayweather fans who are basically all supporting Trout tonight, said that Cotto was shot they voted for it. Now that doesnt mean he was shot, that means they believed he was shot, even after that fight they talked about how shot Cotto was, it wasnt until Mayweather decided to fight Cotto that he suddenly became un shot. Funny how things work around here isnt it
I had the Cotto fight even going into the championship rounds(rewatched last night). Trout at no point "schooled" Cotto, in fact if you watch round 6, Cotto completely outboxed him off the back foot. The scorecards were criminal for that fight.
Not exactly Criminal But I see what your saying it was closer than they lead you to believe so was his fight with Delvin Rodriguez as well.. that was close going into the championship rounds to.... I think Cotto buzzed Trout a few times with his lead left hooks
Prime Mosley decimates Canelo, Prime Cotto still doesn't beat Trout. I rate both prime Cotto and Mosley about the same, maybe an edge towards Mosley. The massive difference here is that Cotto came into the fight having given Pacquaio a decent fight, beating down Margo in a rematch and then stealing a few rounds from P4P1 Mayweather. Mosley came into the fight having had 1 big round against Floyd, surrendering rather weakly against Pacquiao and having a draw against Mora. Unless you are Mexican its a no brainer.:good
cotto isn't that shot, he's passed it but not toally shot. mosley on the other hand has been totally shot since pac fight
The Mosely that Floyd fought was coming off a savage victory over Margarito. The Mosely that PAC fought was coming off a brutal loss to Floyd and a fraw with Mora. They're not really comparable.
This, people seem to have created a myth around the Cotto-Trout fight Trout won,but it was by no means a schooling and was very competitive. Cotto landed plenty of leather on Trout.
True but I also think that we are looking into things a little too deep, I mean sure the Mora fight was horrible to watch.. and I agree Shane looked like **** in that fight. What I will say though is that Mora was a guy who on his best night would give anybody problems, he did get a win over Vernon Forrest thats not an easy thing to do.... So to me a guy who has a win over Forrest, giving Shane problems isnt all that surprising when you really look at it Either way Cotto was shot to **** but so was Shane
The thing that worries me about mosley is that he still has his chin, which will lead to some pretty bad beatings if he keeps going. Doubt the guy will have a fun retirement as it is.
Cotto was coming off a great performance vs Floyd so the way Trout handled him impressed me considering i was not impressed by his Rodriguez fight
Mosley is different, maybe I have a hard time hearing the truth but he tested Canelo for 12 rounds landed some good shots later in the fight he lost to Pac and Floyd who he rocked and there is no shame there, some how i feel like he can fight guys that arent elite and win but all roads point to shot
