That's two victories in a row for Carmont that he didn't really deserve.

Think Mendes will put a halt to Elkins' quiet rise up the rankings.

Yes but he left out the "lightheavyweight" part unless he said so earlier in the night and I didn't see it. I think that says a lot about Larkin's potential. This fight is a bad step back for Lorenz but I think he was entertaining enough to avoid the cut list for the time being. He even tried a capoeria kick for god's sake!

I think it will be treated like a win, and Carmont will get another sub-top ten guy despite his streak.

    That's what should happen, anyway.

Three first round KOs in a row for Mendes. First one over a legit opponent, mind you.

The last two rounds were all Larkin outside of the takedown in the third. Carmont did nothing with the takedown aside from defend two submission attempts before getting swept.

That fight was like watching the MMA equivalent of Sweat Pea Whitaker vs Julio Cesar Chavez. Larkin landed solid leg kicks all night debilitating Carmount's takedown ability as the fight wore on. He landed punches and elbows every time he had a free hand in the clinch against the fence or on the ground.

His takedown defense was spectacular especially considering that he was throwing as many kicks as he did throughout the fight. When he was taken down - he defended well, avoided punishment and recovered to his feet relatively quick. In the third when he was trapped in cross body he was able to grab that kimura from the bottom which would have ended the fight had Carmont not rolled with it when he did - but it did allow Lorenz to sweep Francis and regain his feet. The fact that Carmont was able to land a few takedowns late in the fight speaks well of his conditioning and tenacity.

So in summary, Lorenz hit Carmont all night long no matter which position they were in and didn't get hit in return.

    :-(

Too many Blue Moons today? That was one of boxing's all time best offenses vs one of boxing's all time best defenses. And it was entertaining.

This fight was barely better than sucks, and had a questionable ending.
