I'm a HUGE Fury fan and I want to address the hate that surely is floating around about him atm.

    1. Fury does NOT have a glass jaw.
He took a monstrous shot from Cunningham who perfectly timed him.
Also, Fury was reckless as hell in this fight. He threw caution to the wind all in an effort to entertain.

    2. He has no defense. Yeah, he took dozens of perfectly timed shots from Cunningham, and yeah, he shouldnt have. But remember, Tyson has never fought a world level small HW with such incredible advantage in handspeed and footwork. Fury was genuinely fortunate to have landed the jabs he did throughout. When Fury used the high guard and kept the fight inside, his defense was fine.

    3. Fury cheated. I watched from bell to bell, and USS was butting and elbowing and holding. Yeah, Fury fought dirty too, but just cuz USS was the underdog, don't make it ok for him to butt, grab, and elbow.

Overall, I rate the result as A+++. Fury beat a genuine world level opponent in his backyard.
I rate Fury's performance as a C---. He got the result I expected, but he took entirely too much punishment in the process.

I understand a young HWs feeling of liabilty to put on a show. Not to bore us to sleep as Chisora did tonight, and not to be this robotic saftey first stiff ppl claim Wlad is.....That said, Fury's offense is gonna come, and it's gonna get better with experience. He really needs to learn to change his pace depending on who he's fighting. This wasnt KJ or Maddalone tonight. It was a guy with a 3-1 handpseed advantage and a guy who could and did capitalize on any mistakes.

Hopefully Fury will remember this night for a long time. When he's fighting a guy with that kind of advantage, he needs to be more careful and use his size from the get go, slowing his guy down and keeping him either outside or in, and not allowing himself to be beat to the punch in the wheelhouse.

**** off haters, and all you fair weather Fury fans can **** right off too. I read your comments in the Rbr, and **** off Shaunster you ***gy lil homo.:deal

Great post. I guess we forget he is only 24. He is his own worst enemy. I thought his last fight With King pin was one of his best. But the way he fought today was crazy. One thing we can say is he has heart. What did you think about his cousin? He looks to have a lot of talent.

His chin is suspect but I think much of it is down to his awkwardness or seeming lack of balance/coordination. He seems wibbly on his feet at the best of times. He has decent recovery, and uses his size to his advantage. His defence is pretty wide open though and hard to see him standing up to a top heavyweight. But he has got some raw talent and power and I think he is very valuable for the hw division.

I think an A with just one + would be closer to a reasonable grade. A ++++'s should be reserved for wins like Ali-Foreman, Duran-Leonard, and Greb-Tunney. But hey, maybe I'm too stingy with my praise.

Great Post. I will like to add to this by saying Wladimir's jaw is ****ing disgraceful and he still dominated a sub par heavyweight division. This up coming division is much better but Fury's jaw isn't anywhere near Wladimir's glass level. I think Fury is fine. Also I notice Fury is not scared to get KO when Wladimir is scared shitless nowadays. Fury is good. HE's like Riddick Bowe but dumber. Good stuff. I enjoy him. Wlad will continue to duck him.

That said, Cunningham is a better fighter than Fury's detractors will portray. He shutout the solid Jason Gavern and was robbed against Adamek. This is a credible win, but nothing to get crazy about.

Its hard to add anything to your critiques of Fury. I have to believe Fury really did fight like that to entertain, because he's capable of boxing skillfully, as we saw against Johnson and Chisora.

Oh yeah, his bell to bell domination of Johnson was a masterpiece in adapting to style. Tonight?????IDK what he was thinking, but he played right into the smaller mans game, and if it were Haye or Potvetkin he very well may have paid the price.

As for Hughie.....I aint seen it yet. Waiting for a youtube upload. Was busy watching the Nate Dog fight.

I like Hughie too, but I think I might like Fury to be the next Champ:think

Say what you will about Wlad, but your hate of him is worse than these DKSAB fans hate of Fury.

Wlad is a rich mans Fury. Fury will take his Ls if he continue to fight recklessly, JUST LIKE WLAD DID.

Call Wlad what you want, but you cant be that big, that strong, that skilled, and that perfect without having at least ONE weakness.

Fury's weakness is his average chin and his below average maturity. He should have left this mentality in his formative first 10 fights.

Props to Fury for showing loads of heart.:deal:deal

Man I was really impressed with Hughie. I didn't know he was 6ft8. He moves well for a guy that size and seems to have some punching power. I think he moves better than Tyson and has more speed. And a great jab. But only time will tell if he has the heart of Tyson.

People should be getting behind these up and coming HW prospects, of which Fury seems to stand out as the best, instead of what seems to happen on here all to often with people looking for any sign of weakness and immediately writing him off as a "bum" or "glass-chinned." The minute I saw people scoring the first round for Cunningham I knew they were just hoping he would get KO'd because that was a clear Fury round.

The guys got heart and he's stepping up every fight I wanna see him do well and after tonights show I bet everyone love him or hate him will be tuning in to his next fight.

Stats dont mean ****, Cunningham never sits down on his punches but in this fight he did and landed clean, you'd know that if you didnt just look at statistics
