I don't score rounds simply by who hits harder. I keep it simple. Who gets hit more.

I went to yahoo sports out of curiosity just see if what I thought was confirmed. And that is where I got the numbers. I felt like Canelo definitely landed the harder blows but Trout still outlanded him overall. The numbers were simply a confirmation of how I thought the fight went down. Nothing more nothing less.

It was a complete robbery nothing we can do about it now, you could see Oscar the weasel smiling after the fight he knew he had the judges in hand...

Canelo would land a crisp punch at random times, and was defensively impressive. He barely ever looked to counter off of his dodging though. He needs to work on his counter punching ability as a follow up to his defensive skills. If he can do that, he'll give anyone trouble. Which excites me to see him develop his skills since he's still so young. Still, all of that doesn't negate Trouts work rate, landing just as many if not more punches, while remaining the aggressor throughout most of the fight, and showing more effective ring generalship. I could have seen a draw, but not a Canelo UD.

it's not that simple though. because if it were that simple then they would just award the winner to the person with the most punch stat landed punches. if it were as simple as just counting punches, then boxers would become rock-em-sock-em robots who just put their head down and repeatedly throw as fast as they can.

punch stats are not official, all they are is one guy sitting there and guessing (in real time) which ones land and which ones don't. a pawing jab that glances the side of the head is not as good as a well timed hook. one of those weak Trout Jabs that might have grazed Canelo's shoulder when Canelo was ducking out of the way is not equal to the punch that sent Trout down.

Thanks for admitting other people's opinions mean nothing if it doesn't fall in line with your way of thinking.:good

I bet you believe Williams lost to Margarito in their fight.

Compubox stats have already been debunked. Take that gif for example, it's pretty obvious no shot landed but from a different angle a couple of those shots might look like connects and be awarded as such..

What you say is true but I'm not going take a few hard punches from one fighter and then completely forget all the shots he ate from his opponent. I'm not talking about all the punches that grazed or were slipped. Screw that. But I saw plenty of clean punches landed and just because I didn't see Canelo's head do a 360 with blood flying into the crowd doesn't mean I'm not counting those shots. That's just my thing.

exactly, like in that gif, you could give Trout 4 punch stat punches connected if you count the one that Canelo intecepted with his glove. (if you could that as a block, then 3 punches landed) but really none of those punches had any force behind them. if you're just counting the punches landed, and not giving Canelo credit for making him miss all those times, you're missing part of the sweet science. it's like Willie Pepp, who won a round without landing a punch. (because it was so impressive how he made the other guy miss)

you have to have a cerebral and neutral objective understanding of boxing to make an assessment about a round after it is complete. if you just take that gif in a vacuum, I thought Canelo won that exchange, even though he didn't land a punch, because he was doing something that most boxers can't do, which is evade punch after punch after punch after punch and not take any damage.

Trout landed more punches, and won more rounds. Deal with it fanboys.
