Right now, Mayweather. Canelo didn't turn out to be the pressure fighter I was hoping him to be against a decently mobile fighter who was also fairly cornerable. He's a better outside fighter than before and he's developing nicely, but he needs to learn how to keep forward momentum when he misses his first two shots or has his opponent step towards him. He cedes ground far too often when he should be pressing and stepping into combinations. He's got time to grow and improve and I think he will, but Floyd is sill too good right now. I'm going back to my earlier prediction where the difference in speed and timing would make Canelo timid and unable. Until he can cut off a ring and set up his offense more consistently, Floyd will outbox him.
Canelo is too big, and hits like a mule .. he'd walk Floyd down and rip into him. I just can't see Floyd surviving those punches. I think your mistaking some of his habits and gameplan going in as signs of immaturity. He fought that way on purpose, he wasn't trying to press Trout he was trying to box and make him lead, which Trout wasnt expecting. I wouldn't take much from this fight as to how a Floyd fight would go -- Trout is a very difficult / awkward fight and Canelo took a different approach here. Against orthodox fighters he fights a lot more traditional - stays behind the jab, and explodes with combinations / body shots.
Hey, I had the Canelo Alvarez-Austin Trout fight scored a draw at 114-114 on my unofficial scorecard but I give "Cinammon" props for actually taking the fight with Trout in the first place when a lot of people thought that he wouldn't do it or pull it out, or at the same time get completely exposed in the process. And while I was impressed with the defensive mechanics that Canelo displayed last night against Trout I still didn't walk away with the impression that he can repeat the same maneuver against Mayweather, and even at 154.
I'm saying it now. Canelo beats the damn breaks off this version of Floyd. If and when it happens I promise u I'm putting some big money on a knockout for Canelo.
sorry chaps, but this is a muppet poll weight difference is off the planet just because talk about floyd - martinez, doesn't mean its feasible neither is this fight
I can understand people thinking Canelo would win, he put in a good performance vs Trout. However he clearly didn't beat the breaks off Trout who is levels below Floyd, so I don't follow the logic that he will beat the breaks off Floyd. I think his size and weight makes it a tough fight to pick but I probably lean towards a Mayweather UD. Canelo has stamina issues and I think they will be a big issue vs Floyd I think Floyd will make him miss and stay on the outside all night. The equaliser is Canelo's power but can he land?
For me to make a better judgement, I really want to see Canelo-Cotto even though Cotto is past prime.
at 154 floyd gets dominated by canelo. canelo would be all over him. floyd got litle power at 154, even trout got more power than him at 154 and trout is a weak puncher. canelo pushes floyd around at will, lands the bigger shots in route to a late fight TKO. heard it first here. but floyd wont go to 154, he knows canelo to strong for him. :hat I realy cant understand floyd fans. they get one boring floyd fight after the nother (except the cotto one, but yet still it was mostly cotto doing the action) and canelo brings one action packed fight after another and yet peops out here like floyd fighting and dislike canelo, is it some racist thing because canelo aint black and only black boxers are accepted here (except pac) ?
