- Benson Henderson has the personality of a stale cabbage - The proposal was even more fake than Chael Sonnen - why did his mediocre lady even turn up in the cage if she didn't know what was coming? - I have no idea who won Henderson vs Melendez, one of the closest fights I've ever seen. The strike stats looked way out of sync - Gilbert Melendez is a far better fighter than I gave him credit for, I am eating crow and humbled by his excellent performance as I'd tipped a 50-45 Henderson win - Has there ever been a fighter who relied as much on athleticism as Benson Henderson? The guy doesn't seem to excel in any area, but he's so fast, varied and resilient that it seems impossible he could ever be dominated - The ending of Thomson vs Diaz again underlines that ANYONE can be knocked out if the stars align. In the 1st round, Diaz ate a flush headkick like it was nothing. Then later he gets hit with the same kick, and cannot recover. The lesson: Even the granite-chinned fighters can be KO'd if the right shot hits the right area at the right time. I thought Diaz was fighting well and was still in a competitive fight. He'll be back once he improves his strength/athleticism - If Dana doesn't want to make Henderson-Melendez II right away, I guess Josh Thomson deserves the next shot (since Pettis has left the building, for now), as stopping a Diaz genuinely is a big deal. Thomson is a definitely a legit threat to Henderson, though Henderson would deservedly start as favourite again - Melendez deserves to stay near the top of the food chain though, so a good next fight for him would be the Maynard-Grant winner - Daniel Cormier may not be as good as we thought he was. I tipped him to win and he deserved the win, but somehow I wasn't overly impressed. I can't see that guy beating either Jones or Cain. He beat Mir up in the clinch, but he wouldn't have a speed advantage over Jones and wouldn't have a strength advantage over Cain. I'm really surprised he couldn't hurt the vulnerable Mir more with his punches, and I'm disappointed that the Great Hope to take Jones into deep waters looks incapable of doing that now, based on this performance - Matt Brown has ****ing earned a big fight. He was brilliant. Probably Condit and Diaz are too big in terms of name value to use in a fight with The Immortal, but I'd happily see him in there next with someone like Martin Kampmann or Nate Marquardt. He wouldn't win, but he deserves a co main event against a fringe top 10 guy now, otherwise what's the point in guys like him building solid win streaks :bbb

DC's best skill is wrestling and he, understandably, went in with the game plan to avoid the ground at all costs. So he couldn't really use his best weapon. 2. This was as good a version of Mir as I have ever seen. Improved cardio and was throwing some nice kicks (and looked ****ing huge) I also think that this whole 'UFC debut nerves' thing is becoming a factor in fighters heads. Most guys that come in seem to settle for a win in their debut rather than going all out for the stoppage. I see so many great fighters that have proved themselves in other organisation come to the UFC and underachieve in their first fight. I'm sure it's psychosomatic but it is definitely becoming a factor.
It was a close fight but I gave it to Gil 3-2. Strikeforce fighters showed again what many of us always knew, they were and are legit. What is wrong with Gracies gyms. Both Diaz and Gils legs were messed up and none of them had the brains to put ice on it to get the blood flowing away from the damaged area.
Stoked for Matt Brown. Liked him on TUF, his fighting style is great, and it's great to see him go on this tear. He's earned a top-10 guy for his next fight. Don't think he's the most talented guy, just a really tough, hardworking guy who fights his ass off every time out. Can't help but respect the hell out of that. :smoke :hat
Speaks well for himself too. I guess having the life experience of being a junkie and overcoming it will give you a certain sense of perspective. :hat
Its a rare thing this but I agree with every single word the man has posted :good Specially this: This content is protected
Really high on Matt Brown, and I can vividly remember him knocking out Swick. The man imposes his will on his opponents and violently punches them out. That elbow to the side of Jordan Mein's face was brutal. Two words... No Mercy! Josh Thomson's high kick is a thing of beauty. Nate Diaz wipes some blood from his eye and Thomson throws another high kick to end it. Job well done, and I'm going to dig up some of his fights. His footwork was excellent too. He's no Frankie Edgar, no, he is better and it's not because he may be a little bigger either. Josh Thomson is a sweet fighter that did his homework and fought the perfect fight. Great performance by JT. I haven't seen Bendo v Gil, and probably won't have time over the next few days.
Yeah, if you actually care to learn about the sport or participate yourself, you'll realize that moronic gimps on this board who are obsessed with "glass jaws" are total clowns who just want to flame and denigrate fighters, thus implying that they're somehow "tougher". There are some people who can take crazy shots (Joe Bugner, George Chvallo, George Foreman etc) and some who have had their brains scrambled and can't take anything (RJJ, Michael Moorer etc) but the vast majority of knockouts are caused by not seeing the punch coming and have nothing to do with "strength" or "iron chins" or **** like that. Diaz ate kicks that he saw coming and got staggered by the one he didn't. The Jury/Nijem fight is a great example. It wasn't the best or hardest punch that put Nijem out, but it was one he didn't expect at all. Diaz usually isn't in a situation where a guy can throw kicks that fast and who can set up head kicks with low kicks and can get in angles where that kick can land. Great job by Thomson.
Mein is an idiot. Could have easily finished Brown when he had him hurt to the body in the 1st, not sure what he was thinking...
So does the guy in your guy avatar. And that's no joke. What exactly do you expect from fighters? Do you want everyone to go off on the microphone like Chael Sonnen? I don't understand why fans are so critical when it comes to a fighter's personality. The only guy I can think of who has serious issues is a mumbling, contradicting Nick Diaz who can barely put a sentence together. But I think that has more to do with being in front of a camera. I imagine he's normal when he's socializing with people he's comfortable with.
I think Benson is wooden and dull, but I like him as a fighter. I have no idea why that upsets you. Unless you know him personally, why do you care if I think he's a bit of a snore during interviews??
