Just watched the Alvarez-Trout fight- talk about BIASED commentary

Yeah, this **** about he's biased and they were off. Man people can be anal retentive pricks when it comes to commentators. The commentators were fine. This is not a case of Lampley clearly cheer-leading one guys punches and ignoring the call on the other guys shots. You don't have to agree with their opinion. That's all it was. Why would they be biased toward the non-star anyway? Makes little sense. We all know HBO would've been clamoring all over Alvarez. The funny thing is they all scored it a draw or a point win for Alvarez. That's about what the fight was.

The 10-9 round idea from Bernstein and Paulie was a bit much, I'll agree with that.

 

I can agree with this. This is natural, it's almost a part of a fighter's psychology to behave this way. Totally understandable, but clearly there was an element of bias there, whether conscious or not.

Floyd was the same way when he said he thought Cotto beat Trout, or that the fight was a draw or the scorecards were bad or whatever he said that was clear bull****.

 

Yes I noticed this too about Paulie when talking about Cotto.

 

No it was a case of watching Trout throw punches that were mostly blocked and saying things like "another combination from Trout, he's in control".

 

I had the same feeling. Like they were in favor of Trout the whole fight.

 

People came to this fight with their fixed ideas who is the slick boxer and who is the pressure fighter. The roles reversed and some people still can not grasp it.

 

All the while scoring the fight for Canelo. Give it up. They gave Trout props but gave Alvarez the credit.

 

Malignaggi tends to overstate sometimes, but I dont think he was biased in favor of Trout. He actually credited both fighters during the fight.

I do remember Malignaggi stating Trout was walking Canelo down, I was thinking, are you crazy, he's not walking Canelo down, at that point in the fight it was clear to me that Canelo was backstepping trying to walk Trout into a big shot. During this time frame Trout was having difficulties landing a clean shot on Canelo and Paulie called it "walking down."

Listen, none of these broadcasters are perfect. I tend to know when a broadcast crew has an agenda, but I did'nt sense that with Showtimes crew last night.
This was'nt a case of HBO protecting their house fighter, if anything I would think Showtime would have thought to protect and favor Canelo's every move but credit to them, they did'nt.
