His chin is fine. Standing square on with your hands by your side, plodding forward with your chin in the air like that ***** from Scooby Doo aint a good idea?
Chin is poor. Cunningham is not a big puncher, at CW or HW. People have said he gets up but there is a difference in getting up from a Steve Cunningham right hand and a 250lb man's right hand. Steve's landed good shots on a lot of guys a division below, how many has he actually put down?
I don't really understand how to rate a chin, if it's based on how often one gets knocked down then his chin is poor, if it is based on how he reacts to going down (both times would have beaten a 2 count) then he has a good chin. Just because the fighters who knocked him down have poor KO records doesn't mean they don't have power, it's normally a fair indicator but that punch off Cunningham wasn't one from someone with featherfists.
His defense is his problem, not his chin. He was caught right on the button, right on the button! He is sloppy.
Thing is, Cunningham isn't exactly a big puncher. Fury is 2 stone+ heavier than Cunningham and shouldn't be getting knocked down like that. In his defence, he was showboating quite a lot with his hands down when he got hit by that punch.
He keeps getting up and winning so I don't think he has a problem with punch resistance. He needs to improve his defence a lot though. Going down like that gives away a 10/8 round and he won't always be able to knock the other guy out.
USS is the only guy to ever stop Huck, which would be the equivalent of Malignaggi stopping someone like Mike Alvarado. Cunningham is a deceptively sharp and accurate puncher.
His chin is average, but his poor balance, poor defence and lack of respect for his opponents' power makes him more vulnerable than he should be. Cunningham basically got a free shot on Fury's chin whilst he was squared up with his hands down. Doesn't matter that he isn't known as a big puncher, he's still a 210 lb professional boxer, and plenty capable of doing damage to a fighter in similar circumstances. Fury needs to drop the arrogance and recklessness in the ring. His recovery abilities are decent, and his chin is just good enough to allow him a margin for error, but against a bigger puncher and better finisher he'd be in major trouble.
Chin = average - above average Balance = Poor Ability to Recover = Very Good Defence = Not Good Ring Smarts = Not Good.
I'd rather be in Fury's shoes than have an untested chin, when he gets knocked down his head clears and he's fine, at least in the back of his mind he knows his chin isnt terrible, i think hes got a just above average chin with decent recovery skills but his defense is terrible He's lucky to get away with not getting ktfo, who else can walk straight into their opponent and get clocked with an overhand right but still get up lol
That's why I'm convinced his chin is sound. China/glass breaks, Fury was recovered by the shout of two, his chin is good. His defence & mentality is appalling.
Chins okay, and dropped by a midget he is 6 3.a big overhand right like that has real force on impact Main thing is he has bottle and a ****ing shedload of it
Price's chin is utterly diabolical. Fury's is most likely just average - however, his defence is terrible at times though, which can be a recipe for disaster at HW. Luckily he seems to have pretty decent recovery (which Price does not seem to have). Fury seems open to looping overhand rights, not straight shots, and fast hands that catch him while his balance is off (i.e. he should never face Haye) and highlights why he had trouble early with Cunningham. All that said, Cunningham is now being underated because he lost despite having just beaten Adamek, and Fury is being underated because Cunningham isn't 6'6" and 240lbs. People saying that Fury just won because of his size need to go and watch a few Tye Fields fights - Fury is sloppy at times, but he is better than his last fight made him look.
