I don't want to hear it depends on Mayweather's next fight...lets assume he gets past Guerrero...

    Thoughts.

Well, it does depend on how Mayweather looks against RG. Fighters do get old overnight, you know. It remains to seen if all the inactivity and the jail sentence will finally catch up with him.

If he looks good while dusting off Guerrero then yes. Ginger pubes is too big though.

No, he has a poor work rate, won't land those big shots on Mayweather, and will get out pointed.

    I don't think he'll win.

He'll need to boil down to 147 if the fight is to happen.

There is no way Floyd is moving up to 154 to pass the batten on.
Especially given that Alvarez is a GBP fighter and Oscar done Floyd no favors when he passed the batten on to Mayweather.

So Mayweather won't just say, yeah we'll fight at 154.
Floyd doesn't need Alvarez, so at 36, he's hardly going to fight in a weight class he doesn't belong and one he looked terrible at last fight.

Yes he has a really good shot. His size, power, boxing ability / IQ, and overall style would give Floyd a very tough fight.

I wouldn't look at the Trout fight as to how Canelo would approach this fight. If you watch him against orthodox fighters , he fights like a more proto-typical boxer, and lets his hands go more often. He fought a different fight against Trout who is a big southpaw and difficult to fight.

Just look at the success Cotto had against Floyd just by using a well timed jab, backing him up to the ropes, mixing up combinations... Canelo can do all of that, and with a lot more power. His combinations are brutal.

His workrate isn't poor, if you watch against a orthdox fighter. He's patient, but he lets his hands go pretty consistently, staying behind a jab, and exploding with combinations / counters.

It's hard to bet on a guy being inactive and bailing himself out of rounds with one or two solid shots. It might or might not have happened against Trout, I doubt it happens against Mayweather.

The kid needs to learn to fight for three minutes a round.

Floyd would break him down to the body and stop him late.

It does depend on how he looks in the next fight. Floyd's legs have been looking worse and worse.

Canelo will take the fight to floyd an run through him pretty easy at this point.

If Guerrero doesn't do it first, he would be the first man to stop Mayweather.
