    "Two words; Complete devastation"

I haven't been as much of a fan of a fighter for ages. I'm a big Froch fan but there's a vulnerability about Fury that brings out the fan in me. You can smash him with overhand rights and it looks like he's been hit by Julian Jackson, but he always comes back. McDermott in their second fight, the two Eastern Europeans he beat that were both based in Canada I think (Paikij I think the second one was; he flattened Fury) then Cunningham, smaller and not a noted puncher.

Fury has the delivery of Foreman at his very worst and the bouncebackability of Holmes at his best. Unfortunately he doesn't hit that hard (last night was a savage and harsh kayo though ) and he' getting dropped by third-raters, in terms of ability, ranking and power, not the likes of Weaver and Shavers.

The ride is gonna' be so fun though. Fury is a boy.

Flea, if Fury goes in with a hard puncher, one that is his own size, he'll get destroyed. It's like he thinks he's the best heavyweight in the world with that attitude. Even Bryant Jennings destroys him.

Whatever. I don't care. I'm not a fan of his because he's winning.

Fury clearly is the best heavyweight in the world right now.

    Cunningham fight is pure epicness.

It was like a funny "so bad it's good" trash movie.

Damn, Flea! Have you been :rasta again?

Is it me or does Jimmy Carter (of the Basset fight) slightly resemble Ike Williams' style?

    Ward-Gatti I

    War.

    1 - 10-9 Gatti
    2 - 10-9 Gatti
    3 - 10-9 Gatti
    4 - 9-9*
    5 - 9-10 Ward
    6 - 10-9 Gatti
    7 - 10-9 Gatti
    8 - 9-10 Ward
    9 - 8-10 Ward
    10 - 10-9 Gatti

    * Gatti deducted 1 point for low blow.

95-93 The late great Arturo Gatti.

Gatti looked beautiful in the early rounds landing some sweet combinations on Ward and outworking him effectively to take the control. Ward was right there with him though every now and then he would land a telling shot whether it be a left hand to the body or a short right upstairs. The end of round 5 was huge for Ward a few more seconds in that round and he would of had Gatti down but Gatti made a very smart recovery in round 6 by going back to his boxing to take back control of the fight and the next two rounds. In round 8 Ward just like in round 5 Ward ends the round in devastating fashion and this capitalises on it by putting him down in the next round.

Rounds 9 and 10 - Wow. That is all.

I know this fight has been done to death, and deservedly so, and people know all they need to about it but this was the first time I actually scored the fight so I just wanted to share my take on it and post my scorecard.

    I liked it.

Good technical fight. Even though Griffith looked two divisions smaller and Monzon took over in the second half.
Nice sustained action - especially for Monzon fight.

Much, much better than the rematch.

Monzon declined significantly between 1971 and 1973.

    aye.

I've always quite liked Bouttier as a fighter, but a more talented operator would have taken Monzon's title that night in their rematch.Bad year for Carlos that was...looking unspectacular against both Griff and Bouttier.

    Jeff Fenech vs Azumah Nelson

    Official Verdict: Draw

    My Verdict: Fenech UD

    Nelson won rounds: 1, 2, 9

    Fenech won rounds: 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12

    Draw: 6

Jesus what a robbery under no circumstances could I ever see this as a draw, Fenech from the 3rd round onwards was on the offensive landing much more telling blows way more often. For a large portion of the fight Nelson was forced into the ropes where he stayed getting bombed and landing mostly pitty pat punches in return. Fenech made Nelson buckle badly about 3 times, particularly in the last round. Even if they had an extremely conservative ref who decided to take points away from Fenech for going at Nelson after the bell and spear tackling him it's still a clear dec win for Fenech the crowd were chanting "BULL****" for a reason. Awesome action packed fight however one of the best ever.

Fenech saying to Don King "**** YOU!" was ace.

How many rounds did Griffith really win against LRM in their final meeting?
