There is absolutely no evidence that he used anything illegal, infact the 'infamous wraps' from the Mosley fight were found only to contain certain substances used to make plaster of paris.

Anything in boxing is possible but floyd has one of the tightest defences in history and it isn't overly reliant on reflex.

Curry could catch floyd cold, but I highly doubt it.

 

I'm completely ignorant of the Curry-Honeyghan-Starling-McCrory era..
But as expected, McCallum can destroy them all.

Watching a great performance by Honeyghan against Curry. Surprised I've never heard his name up there with the best welterweights ever...(Curry).

Floyd can just do enough to get past people like Hatton, Old Oscar, Cotto.

Has Floyd received more hype than these guys?

Hard to say. The speed advantage is to Floyd but the weight and power is to Donald. I would say Donald by SD going the distance. He would fight the fight in the ring center which Floyd would not want. Floyd would not have fought Donald anyway. Donald was too good.

 

His prime was very brief.

He didn't establish himself as a great champion.

 

Comparing this match up to recent fights. It has the potntonal to be a Alvarez/Trout like fight where 2 master craftmen preform their craft at their highest levels with one or the other edgeing the other. I have the felling this is going to be more of a Doniare/Rigoandaux fight where one of them is able to impose his will on the other.

I think Donald Curry is one of the most over looked boxers of all time. At his best he's as good as anyone. This dose not mean I think he beats Floyd Mayweather.

Both are outstanding boxers who can adjust in the ring. I have more questions about Curry even though he's younger and in his prime. First of all despite only being stopped by Lloyd Honeyghan as a welterweight. He was down in his previous bout. It was ruled a slip, but a punch did land. Even though he had Eduardo Rodriguez hurt and would evenatuly ko him in the second round of that fight. Rodriquez was able to land counter shots while hurt from the ropes. If there is a boxer who is outstanding with his back to the ropes. It's Mayweather. Mayweather may not be a one punch knockout artist, but he's not feather fisted either. Those counters are going to take their toil.

The biggest factor more so than skills/talent/ability. Ids who can impose their will on the other. For all of Curry's skills/talent/ability. Which may or may not be greater than Mayweather's at 147. I don't think anyone imposes their will as well as Mayweather. Maybe Benny Leonard and Ray Leonard, but certantaly not Donald Curry.

Floyd would be a good test for Curry but I believe that Floyd as good as he is, would get cut to ribbons by young Donald

Why I remember when Don's future seemed unlimited in the summer of '85. He was on the kind of roll that actually inspired the writers over at KO, spelled K-O, to push Donald's rank up to #2 p4p, just under Hagler

it is my belief that Donald somehow lost something the following year. I dont know how but he did and it really showed up when he faced a young, hungry Lloyd honeyghan, and he could no longer hold off someone so formidable

But the Curry I remember, who was giving the writers down at KO hard-ons, I'd agree would PROBABLY take care of Floyd (as much as I hate to say it since I am a fan)

 

I'm a massive Curry fan..........But people are kidding themselves on if they think he could beat Mayweather.
