Ah, but Joe - that isn't the criteria for bumping a 10-8 down to a 10-9.

To eliminate the 2-point swing, the knocked-down party needs to DOMINATE the rest of the action for the full 2:40, 2:50 or so.

    Dominating a minute isn't enough.

Doing very well for the other 2:40/2:50 isn't enough.

You need to dominate every second except those immediately surrounding the knockdown to shift that swing back.

A 10-8 is very hard to budge, and rightly so.

doesn't sound like it from what your saying here..

"Rd7 - Straight right Canelo, Trout down. Straight right and left each. Trout uppercut. Trout jabs. Hook Canelo. Uppercut Canelo,
straight right twice. Trout still jabbing, few landing.
Left hook Canelo. Good inside work Trout. Straight right again Canelo. Good pressure from Trout at the end.
    10-9 Canelo."

I agree IB, but I genuinely thought Canelo did very little else worth talking about in that round. Trout really bossed it for the remainder. You may be right, but at the end of the round, my gut said 10-9 and I went with it.

Yeah I see that situation scored differently a lot as well, which is why I tend to stick to 10-8 unless it's complete dominance. Less muddy. 9-9 is an easier way of putting it.

I don't think he did enough personally, but he did win the rest of the round in my opinion. Not sure where he watched the fight and if Paulie was a factor, wasn't for me.

It's a quick description of a busy round. Trout landed the better shots apart from the KD, backed Canelo up and was the busier of the two. It felt like a 10-9 to me, so I went with it. Either way, it doesn't change the outcome of the fight for me, still had Canelo winning.

    Fair enough. :good

I did think it was very nice work for Trout and remember thinking it was a shame (for him) about the knockdown because it would've otherwise been a very clear 10-9 for him...but as I said, my willingness to soften a two-point swing comes at steeper a price.

Again, Trout started well, aggressive but not landing anything huge. Canelo backed off and did little until the last minute. Trout tired and Canelo took over the round, picking off some lovely counter hooks and straights. Given the quality of those shots and Trout fading badly, I had to give it to Canelo, but like I said it was very very close. Could have been a 10-10 round, or called for Trout either.

I guess you fell a sleep again and you missed 12th round:oops: How is that Canelo round?? he knew he had fight won and did nothing Trout won 12th!
Otherwise ok scoring but 12 is a must for Trout.

Once. It was a decent shot, but not spectacular. Another nice inside uppercut if I recall. But he was rocked by it because he was still on wooden legs from the KD, that's all. So Canelo's landed two decent shots in the round, and Trout's controlled the rest of it. As IB says, the requirements to make it a 10-9 instead of a 10-8 should be quite high, and at the end of the round my gut said he'd done enough. You think differently, that's fair enough.

Read the post above yours, I don't need to explain it a 3rd time.

Think people were falling asleep and missing those beautiful counters Canelo was pinging Trout with. ;)
