Just watched Trout-Canelo for the 1st time - Scores and Notes

But when you scored the fight you shouldnt know he landed 71%, if you gave that round to Canelo then you shoulda had Canelo winning most of the rounds

 

Just backing up what I felt while watching it. Those counters at the end were worthy of taking that round. Quality shots. Trout was aggressive early in the round but didn't land anything too remarkable. Like I said in the original post, you could score it either way, really you could. I chose quality.

 

I had it even in rounds- 6 each, with Canelo winning because of the KD

 

it was also 420 the day of the fight so please rewatch with out smoking weed

Your card is definitely solid Smokin' Joe but on this point alone I think you're being a bit relative when scoring for Trout. The standard should be the quality of the work done regardless of if he just got up from a knockdown or just hopped out of the shower. I don't think you can award extra credit points just for making a stand. It's not "who's doing better given their condition", it's just "who's doing better."

But this is a minor point. It's great you made a thread explaining your rationale round by round.

But yes, someone posted the video of round 7 and on second viewing, Trout didn't do as much as I had initially thought, and/or the good work he did came later in the round to make up that point. Didn't do enough. Changed my card accordingly.

I don't score a fight round by round; too much work and I don't work for free.

My impression was that Alvarez was doing a lot better than the normally unbiased Bernstein thought. He said Trout was "controlling the fight with his jab". That was true for the first two rounds but after that Canelo was actually using Trout's jab to his benefit....moving his head away from the punch then knowing where Trout was he'd counter. The knockdown round was 10-8. I though it was close but gave to Canelo because his punches did more damage over the course of the fight and gave him more credit for defence than Trouts higher total but with weaker punches.

 

Ah, I did notice the additional point added in another thread. Now it's virtually perfect! I'll have to rewatch and provide my own card to pinpoint the rounds, I was counting as I went.

I believe my card was nearly identical, but there might be a switch somewhere I don't see.

 

The wide card in favor of Canelo I am not sure if that particular judge has a history of doing a shitty job, he was the only judge who scored the first Holyfield Lewis fight correctly I am confident if we research his scoring history prior to you will see that he is a fit judge.

there is always a possibility that from where he was seated he saw more work on behalf of Canelo than the other two judges did. I am not saying I agree with his card I am simply saying he may have not been in the greatest position to see anything Trout did and he is the WBA judge....
