Tyson Furys Chin ???

When was the last time you saw Cunningham land a wilder hayemaker overhand right, flush, with his opponent walking forwards with his guard down, and no head movement to avoid or lessen the blow? I'm not sure I can recall any other instance of that. But when was the last time we saw Fury walk forwards with his guard down, and no head movement to avoid or lessen the blow? Against Pajkic actually (Firtha hurt him with the same shot)...which suggest strongly that the problem is very poor defence to overhand rights.

Fury hasn't been particularly troubled by straight shots, or left hands, so if he can seriously work on improving his defence to the overhand right then he will be a very decent heavyweight. If he doesn't, then he will have many future scares of a similar manner.

Also, Fury hasn't been matched particularly carefully, no more so than anyone else - and certainly less so that certain other HW prospects.

 

That KD wasn't an indicator of a poor chin in opinion. If any fighter got caught with a punch like that from a heavy/cruiser they would have more than likely gone down. As has been said, the knock down is more telling of fury's defense which can at times be very lackluster.

Personally, i don't think his defense is as bad as some people are making out, the biggest problem is Tyson's temperament as he has a tendency to run in there gung ho and neglect his boxing. This was not the composed Tyson we saw against Johnson, he clearly lost his rag in there and his behaviour at the end of the first round showed this.

Finally, he won the fight in a very controversial manner, with that being said i would like to see a rematch and maybe it could be hosted in the UK this time (So i can go lol).

USS is 6"3 210pound heavyweight with good punching technique and speed. That punch he landed with would of seriously hurt any heavyweight, it was a overhand right in which he transferred his weight into it. Some of these smaller heavyweights have better bio mechanics than the bigger heavyweights because..? pound for pound they are better heavyweights. Tyson Fury has gotten up from every knock down he has had, and the punches that deck him are game changes..? and he still always gets up and fights harder. I think this adds to his chin, and proves that he has a good one.

How do you know if you have good punch resistance if, you don't take a variety of punches. Tyson Fury has been bombed out by punches he did not see coming, hail house digs,you name it..? and he has survived them all.

It has **** all to do with his chin, more his defence and body positioning... Tyson has eaten some good punches ..

 

You answered your own question. Dropped by a light-hitting cruiser, and hurt by other guys not considered punchers.

Where I come from, that's a glass chin, period end of paragraph.

All Fury is is a KO waiting to happen. I suspect it will be soon when his glass jaw gets BRUTALLY exposed.. :yep

Cruiserweights are just normal sized heavyweights. They're almost always in shape, possess a decent skillset and have the power to hurt anybody they can land flush on. What's not to like? Huck nearly took out Povetkin in a FOTY candidate, Adamek's been in numerous exciting brawls, Haye consistently draws big numbers and can (on occasion) be an exciting fighter. I'd love to see more Cruiserweights move up into the heavyweight division. Huck (again), Lebedev, YP Hernandez, **** even Danny Green.

Someone described Bradley as a KO waiting to happen after his last fight. A performance that said just about anything but 'KO waiting to happen'.

Fury's problem is he just doesn't see them coming. It's why i'd give him more of a shot against Klitschko than Haye. Haye is pretty unpredictable and throws big shots with either hand from all kinds of angles, that will have Fury in all kinds of bother. Klit throws straight up 1-2s all night long, with an occasional left-hook. I think Tyson could handle that.

Funny thing is, if Haye or Klit KO Fury all the naysayers will be out in force with 'I told you he was a KO waiting to happen'. The fact that these guys KO just about everyone will be ignored.

 

Mediocre punch resistance for his size. Probably above average for a normal heavyweight. All these 6 footer heavyweights don't inflict the maximum damage to Fury because their punching upwards. That alone takes a lot of power out of the punch before they connect with Fury's chin. The gypsy is just a big lanky freak.

 

I would compare it to granite.
