The fact that the WBA recognized Trout and his belt as their "second most prestigious titlist" in the division.

Yuri Foreman was the original WBA belt holder. During the time he won it the WBA created the "regular" belt that Trout won.
In all reality it´s just a way to make money and Trout never was even a true world titlist.

Canel on the other hand won his title against Hatton at a catchweight. The match was for the vacant belt yet Hatton had never fought at that weight

Maybe Canelo should have fought Foreman to get the WBA belt. And fought Trout for the Vacant Title. Either way gets you to the same place tho.

With Floyd returning to WW and Canelo actually beating no1 ranked Rhodes (and Cintron and Shane and Trout beat Cotto), there was no doubt that the no1 guy was facing the no2, hence no controversy, only if you create some.

That's why people need to put things in perspective when they make a big deal out of a current fighter becoming champ, unified champ or multiple division champ. It's a lot easier to do this today because of the state of boxing.

He's the youngest of the current Ring champions (Wladimir, Hernandez, Dawson, Ward, Martinez, Danny Garcia, Mikey Garcia, Rigondeaux and Yagashi being the others)
