I also have to wonder, when did jones ever show he could take on a real heavyweight like Frazier? He never did, and the few times Ruiz caught jones with a good shot, jones looked shook. Frazier decisively beat guys who could move and had speed like Roy, and guys who were probably more powerful than Roy. This is just a terrible mismatch for Roy. Roy gets decked w/ the first shot Frazier hits him with.

ah yes, it's the lets put jones vs a heavyweight and **** on him thread of the day. i think most of you are looking for the current boxing forum.

throughout the history of boxing, there have been these things called weight classes. you see, it's where two fighters face each other and they are at or near the same weight. it's usually done so a fight can be considered fair where one fighter doesn't have a size advantage and hopefully it will create a competitive bout.

you see, frazier's prime fighting weight was 205 lbs where jones' was 168 so this doesn't really make it a fair fight for jones. with that said, jones must have been one hell of a fighter to constantly be put in these fantasy matchups vs bigger men. :)

Thank you. I respect yours also. I just see Frazier as being stronger. However, I think the greater fighter is Roy. Easily. Which might get some people on ESB upset for me saying that.

Yes we know all about 168..But the fact of the matter is Roy did fight at HW...So in my opinion askin Him to meet up with a 205lb Frazier at the same weight he came into the ring Vs Ruiz is not askin too much..

    Hi mate, how's things?

Yeah, I don't get these threads. The question is asked in a certain tone, that includes cheap digs, and then when a poster says Roy will get destroyed etc, the TS is all happy and congratulates the post.

    What's all that about?

I agree with everything you've said mate, apart from I think Roy could have made it past a few rounds.

There's a lot of hate for Roy on this site.

What do you think would have happened between Joe vs Tyson?

    Thanks mate!

The title mentions P4P, if they were the same weight RJJ would spark Frazier within 2 rounds.

It's the way you've asked the question. :patsch

You want people to have a debate with you, and you've just acknowledged the fact that Roy beat Ruiz at around 200 pounds, yet look at your thread title?

"if Jr had the balls to even fight at HW!?"

You're not wanting a serious debate are you?

Roy was at his peak at SMW in his mid 20's.

Frazier would have beaten Roy, but Roy was a better fighter with more skills.

I'm still waiting for you to name me all of the former MW-SMW fighters that accomplished what Roy did?

    Roy would spark almost anyone.

Also on the people mentioning Ruiz is a cherry pick

    http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/The_Ring_Magazine%27s_Annual_Ratings:_2002
John Ruiz was the nr5 heavyweight in 2002.

Where's the cherrypick of a lhw that moves up to fight the man who was rated nr5 by the end of 2002? (Just 3 months away from the Ruiz fight)

Also it's logical to fight the man with a belt because it gives you financial leverage for fights against other belt holders and the champ.

People who don't give Roy credit are ignorant. It's as simple as that.

Lets have a list of all the other guys that have done it.

Roy was 34, he'd had almost 50 fights, he was outweighed by over 25 pounds, and yet he won EASILY!

Ruiz wasn't great but he was effective.

I know the HW division hasn't been great for a long time, but if he'd have been absolute garbage, then he wouldn't have won a version of the title.

How many of the Super Six guys, or current LHW's would even contemplate going up?

The guys on here that say the Ruiz win was nothing, and he was a feather fisted slob etc, need to go down to their local boxing gym and put the gloves on for a few rounds.

If what Roy did was so easy, then why hadn't been accomplished in 106 years?

The guys on here are nothing but jokers.
