Will Sonnen get at least one takedown vs Jones, or not?

    I think we can all agree this is a silly fight that won't be competitive, and should never have been made.

    You've got a guy who barely scraped past Michael Bisping at 185 vs a guy who has finished Lyoto Machida at 205... Different levels of fighter entirely.

    Plus Jones is much bigger and better in every way.

    Younger, fresher, faster, stronger, taller, longer, more skills, more variety, etc etc etc...

    So I'm not even watching this fight with a view to seeing who wins, but I'm interested to see if Chael can get a TD or not, seeing as it's his whole game and no-one has taken Jones down in championship fights yet.

    Could a highly juiced Chael bullrush Bones and get the TD, or does even that have no chance of happening?

    Unfortunately, I think Jones is so much bigger and stronger and is so alert that he'll see Chael coming and either swat him off like a fly or get hold of him and secure the TD for himself, and welcome Chael into the wonderful world of Hellbowtown.

    Thoughts?

    I can't see it. But you never know I guess. But I'm pretty sure even if CS does get a takedown JJ will explode into a reversal as soon as he hits the mat and end up on top.

    It's certainly hard to imagine. I think Chael will be finished in the first round pretty quick.
    I wonder what weight Chael will come in at? I know he had a particularly rough time making weight for his last match, I think it was close to 20 lbs he was cutting. Could he be effective at 215? With his hormone regime I'm sure he could put on another 10-15lbs of muscle but would it actually help him in any way?

    I would consider the fight a success for Chael if he could put Jones on his back at some stage. Don't think we've ever seen Jones on his back before.

    And I wouldn't read too much into his performances against Bisping and Silva 2. He really seemed very drained for both of them. On TUF he sure as hell didn't look like a middleweight, he looked like a natural LHW.

    You think? I don't. Jones doesn't seem to have that finishing ability to get guys out of there that quickly, he's patient and likes to grind people down so that he can finish them later I think. And Chael is hopelessly, laughably outgunned in this fight, but he is still a very resilient fighter. I'll take Bones by submission in round 3 or 4 after a thorough domination.

    Wouldnt be surprised if he times it well off a Jones jab/kick right off the bat whilst he's fresh in the first round as that's pretty much Sonnens forte.

    Ultimately, like in the Silva rematch it will count for nowt as he pretty much has zero finishing ability, and trying to hold a bigger stronger younger guy down will play hell with his stamina, his other forte

    You never know but an awful style match up for Chael all across the board. Expecting this to play out like JJ v Shard with added submissions and pant wetting from Rogan and Goldy when Jones takes Sonnen down himself

    Can't see It I'm expecting the following to happen.

    Chael shots get suffed a few times Chael starts getting picked off loses all of his confidence dives in with a telegraphed shot and gets choked out with a standing Guillotine.

    I think Bones is gonna tool the **** out of him.

    I feel kinda bad for Chael, the size difference is silly as it is, and Bones is great at using his reach. If Chael grabs his legs, then what? Jones can just drape over him lol. I wish I were kidding.

    I'm not sure that the size difference is THAT massive, to be honest. Jones is certainly easily taller, and has the bigger frame naturally, but he hasn't quite filled out yet. On TUF, Chael didn't seem like a midget standing next to him - if anything he looked slightly bigger than Jones through the arms, shoulders and torso. :conf

    I always though Jones will elbow him a minute in and have Chael oozing blood like a slaughterhouse drain.

    Anyways, Rashad who is much stronger, can't do ****.

    Chael won't do anything else.

    Rashad fought scared. Real scared. I think Chael will man up, at least for the first round or two.

    Still think he'll get a brutal beating. But I don't think he'll talk all this ****, get a title fight that he knows damned well is not justified, and then fight like a ***** and quit as soon as Jones elbows him once. :conf
