  1. Thanks billy for confirming he will look to step up eventually,in my eyes if he does step up still as a respected world champion then the big paydays will arrive

I know this is about out the blue but on seeing Earl is makeing a comeback i feel Ricky burns win over him is almost forgotten that Burns at the the time a 9-0 novice whom at never fought pro outside Glasgow went to london and beat Earl in an 8 rounder whom was at the time an undefeated British champion, First time i had seem Burns box as it was on skysports for some reason

that must go down as 1 of his best wins

No bother, although when you state you don't like Scots in general it's perfectly reasonable to suggest that your views on a Scottish fighter regarding ducking etc might be skewed in a way in which your views on say an English fighter would be.

Well my dislike mainly comes from the Scots dislike of all people and things English due to stuff that happened 300+ years ago. I wouldn't be a crazy thing to suggest most Scottish people hate the English. Yet I am being attached for having a similar view to a large percentage of your country?

Perhaps, but I don't let nationality cloud my judgment on fighters. Other than a fighter being from London, I have no preference towards them.

Plus Scottish fans are probably the worst in terms of bias towards there own fighters.

You understand the Scottish/English thing is mainly a sporting rivalry thing? Particularly team sports, I want the national teams to lose all the time because they are our rivals, it's purely fun. When it comes to individual sports like boxing since this is where we are then nearly all the time if an English fighter is taking on a big American star or something then I want them to win. Eubank is one of my favourite fighters ever, I want Froch to beat Kessler, I wanted Bruno to beat Tyson etc etc. I'm a Dundee Utd fan and I want Dundee Fc to lose all the time.....do I hate Dundee supporters personally? Absolutely not that's just stupid. They are our rivals. I'm sure some Scottish idiots blindly hate the English but you don't think that goes both ways? For the most part and for most sensible people it's purely sporting RIVALRY

Hurrah.A bit of sense. When the unifications fell through, and Gonzalez was talked about, people on here were saying he was crap, etc, and the match shouldn't be made.Well,he's the mandatory,an unbeaten Puerto Rican with a knockout record. If Ricky beats him,and I hope he does,it'll add to an already impressive list.I liked what Hearn said about if you've got a title you should hang onto it.When I see a champion ditch a title,I smell a rat, whatever reason they give for it.

In my experience its not just a sport thing. I have witnessed some pretty mindless racism directed towards English people from scots on a number of occasions. I don't really think the rivalry goes both ways. In terms of sport the English take the rivalries with the Australians far more seriously than the rivalry with Scotland, and in terms of football the Germans and the Argies the rivalry is more fierce in the eyes of the English.

Politically/Historically I think the Scots are far more anti English than the other way around. I have never heard people ranting about Scotland down here. But have been in bars in Glasgow and heard anti English stuff being said, been abused by scottish people myself in scotland for being English. I went to Scotland v Belguim in a football match a few years back at Hamden and the crowd were singing anti English songs. I have never heard anti Scotland songs sung as England games I went to.

This is all my experience and I might have just been unfortunate to come across bad scottish people. Like I said there are some Scots that I like, and you seem like a good guy and poster on here, but in general most of the scottish people I have met or come across I wasn't particularly fond of, and I have never found that with any other nation.

The hate comes more from how arrogant and cocky English people can be (mostly southerners) rather than what happened 300 years ago. Its not just Scottish people who hate on the English by the way :yep
I personally don't hate the English, but you for example come across as a right English *****. If your looking for a reason why Jocks hate the English then look in the mirror, saaan!

Yhe but you dislike me because you think I am a *****. Not because I am English.

You would have to have come across a large number of people like me to be in a position to say "I hate the English'

It happens both ways :patsch One of my best mates moved down Middlesborough when he was 16, he got bullied for being Scottish until he lost the accent. He told me he had to lose the accent because it was bringing him trouble nearly every day.
