    Hi guys,

I am looking to spend some time watching various pound-for-pound all time great fighters that I have watched very little of. I have decided to start watching fights of Henry Armstrong on you tube. Does anyone have any good recommendations?

I aim to do my homework and scour the forums and websites for information but I thought I would ask here first.

    Thanks in advance. :bbb

According to chincheckers he would have been a disgraceful glass jaw today.

He got KO'd in the first fight by a 10% KO ratio bum... only bums lose like that.

(Sorry, just wanted to state that fighters who in their early fights have "chin problems" don't exclude them from being ATGs.)

Against Ross he looks almost unbeatable to me.

Thanks Orriray I look forward to chilling out and watching this one later tonight.
Dyna - I agree with you that those chin-checkers are clueless cowards - none of them have ever boxed in any shape or form before. Clueless.

He's such a dynamic fighter, ridiculous energy and stamina. He's endlessly aggressive as well, but not in the take-two-to-give-one mold of so many others. He's slick on the inside, and not all that easy to hit. He rolls so well and bobs and weaves a lot, making a tough target for someone who's always up in your grill. He's a nightmare for anyone.

It always amazes me how hard he was to hit clean.

A nightmare for MOST everyone...The two times I saw Henry Armstrong
ringside , he lost. The first time in 1943 the prime Beau Jack decisioned Armstrong at MSG. A few months later my dad and I saw a young Ray Robinson "play" with his idol Henry Armstrong also at MSG. Of course Henry was 31 at the time, and past his great peak...Also Fritzie Zivic had the style to beat Henry Armstrong twice, but a peak Barney Ross would have whipped Fritzie Zivic handily...Style, style, style...

What I like about the chin checking brigade is the joy it seems to bring them talking about it. I can almost see them sitting there smugly snigering. i had to leave one of those g's out, wouldn't let me say that word.

I wasn't talking about Wlad... certainly not, Wlad didn't get stopped or dropped anytime early.
Unless you think 150 amateur fights and 20 or so pro fights before the first KD is early.

You're seeing things which aren't there now. (I was talking about just Henry Armstrong, as I don't use Wlad as an example of fighters who had their problems early)

Ali got dropped by Doug Jones/Cooper early in his career.(Also stopped in the amateurs a few times)
Holyfield had gas tank problems in the ams as a lightheavyweight
Buster Douglas though not an ATG got stopped pretty early in his career by a bum.
Salvador Sanchez also seemed to have some problems early but not as in glass but as in "ok".

And if you want me to talk about Wlad again I'm willing to.
