Nice documentary on the Ali vs Frazier fight and how it polarized America. Who would you have cheered for? [yt]sPI6dBgmokw[/yt]
Frazier. More soft-spoken blue collar work ethic type ****. That appeals to me. Ali was great and funny and politically important and all that, but he was also a ****ing *****, especially to Frazier, who was a nice dude.
Before I would have picked Ali but now I know both sides, I agree with you, Joe's background and his story appeals to me more now.
By the time Ali fought Frazier, I think I would have already had massive respect for Ali due to his political status, as well as his style. As a guy with long arms I can relate to him a bit better. Frazier's humbleness in disposition and victory after the first fight however would have made me a fan, so I think I would have still favored Ali during the rivalry but had a soft spot for Joe.
Whadday mean "WOULD?" I DID cheer / root for Ali. - But I was young, and believed all the hype. Now that I'm older & wiser, and know what an ******* Ali was, & how he was a total puppet for malcome X, not to mention how much he cheated & how much his organization protected him, I'd probably send Frazier a check to help him train harder. **** Ali & his bull**** legacy.
He wasn't a puppet for Malcolm X. He actually betrayed Malcolm X and went with Nation of Islam. Cassius Clay was going to change his name to Cassius X to signify his friendship with him but instead betrayed him and went with Elijah Muhammad.
