What Fury said was totally disrespectful to MMA and that the issue I have with this constant.........Boxers are better than MMA fighters or vice versa.

Just accept that they are 2 different sports, whilst one does incorporate boxing ability aswell as Wrestling, BJJ, KickBoxing, Karate, ThaiBoxing, Judo etc it's MIXED MARTIAL ARTS boxing is BOXING.

Both deserve the same respect, both go through training camps and work extremely hard in their own sport...both get into a ring / octagon and is only 1 on 1 fighting another man with nowhere to run...

Stop dissing MMA like it's not a sport...it is!

Used to like Dana, can't stand the guy now. Fury is actually stupid enough to take up the offer though.

Of course anyone with a bit of sense can appreciate the hard work and dedication both athletes go through but there are still some 'fans' who treat It as Boxing vs MMA which is ridicoulus If anything MMA has helped Boxing recently. Thanks to the UFC Boxing cards are far more bang for the customers buck instead of one headliner and **** poor undercard we get at least 2-3 good quality fights on Boxing cards now.

It's like expecting the best squash player in the world to enter Wimbledon and win the tournament whereas in reality he'd not win a game.

Oh and Peter put Thuggin on ignore. He's an attention ***** like craney and as such very boring.

    Yep.

Like I say mate, it's just common sense.

Some boxing fans seem to have a problem with accepting that certain boxers couldn't beat an MMA fighter (in an MMA match).

    But, it doesn't change anything.

It doesn't make your favourite boxer any less of a good boxer because he can't defend an armbar or stop a takedown.

In the same way it shouldn't stop Usain Bolt from being your favourite sprinter because he can't hit a jump shot like Lebron James.

    It's a different sport.

And it works both ways like I said, Nick Diaz is often praised for his boxing ability, someone like Mayweather would make him look ****ing stupid in a boxing match.....Like he'd never boxed before.

Anyways mate, where in Boro you from bud? I'm a teessider myself :D

Kind of right. He knows anything controversial gets talked about. Especially when said in the manner he said it in. White is very outspoken an has give him the platform. Didn't need to respond to it. Velasquez dealt with it all very well. Tyson knows he gets his arse handed to him inside an octagon. He also knows it will never ever happen. Very clever man making a very clever buisness decision to talk about it that's all. For all the hate Fury gets he knows what he's doing. Very switched on. All the mugs on here and on MMA sites lap it up like it has any element of truth to it. No such thing as bad publicity and now he's got a whole host of people talking about him who otherwise wouldn't be. As I said very clever man

I'm primarily a boxing fan but I love both sports, and I think it would be wonderful and hilarious to see Fury fight Velasquez in the Octagon. This would be Toney-Couture but with about a billion times more violence, blood, and misery. Ding-ding... takedown... punches... elbows... mounted... terror-tap... Shame.

It was Fury that opened his mouth. Obviously IMO opinion Cain smashed Fury in MMA rules and Fury smashes Cain under boxing rules. The thing is though Cain doesn't seem to think he would beat boxers at their sport, Fury on the other hand seems to think he would cruise to a UFC title.

If there was any British boxer going to have a go at MMA I would love for it to be Haye. Some one who has cross trained for years and can hit like a mack truck!

'Pretty ****ing popular', sure. But not as popular as boxing.

MMA / UFC is an incredibly insular sport; it's popular in areas or countries that have a rooted tradition in wrestiling, like the United States. Wrestling is a skill initself, with American colleges churning out deft practioners of the sport - but the rest of the world doesn't give a crap.
