Depends on what segment is needing to be developed but yes it can IMO. I mean a simple thing is teaching a fighter to sit on punches and really dig in and punch throw target. That's a technical development..

The physical development can help enhance power although others would know more about that.

With Eubank Jnr his issue is he's not sitting on punches and not timing them or setting them up.

It's like if i fought you and i'm covering up full guard and you're throwing lead uppercuts off lead hand and big lead hooks and over hand rights i'm going to take them better because i see them coming because he's mostly throwing them from range and there spectacular punches so he's not always in best position to generate the power he needs with his feet off floor and bodyweight not balanced enough in right areas for the power to be there.

His issue is he doesn't punch in 2's 3's and 4's or jab then feint then throw left hook or uppercut. He often just throws them right off the bat and when you throw them type of punches opponents will cover up immediately at the level he's fought at currently. Soon they will counter when he steps up so he's got to be careful.

His body punching is his most powerful and technically sound aspect at present IMO. He gets good leverage, the technique is fine and he turns into just needs to time the shots. Shock the system..

The punches you don't see coming are the worst to take so he needs to work on setting up shots, timing and angles for his punches as well as sitting on them. Calzaghe was very good at changing power of punches it was like musical notes. Bing bing Bang Boom!!.

Of course - training for power is a regime in itself that's distinct from strength training. For example, look at Strongman competitions where they exhibit phenomenal feats of strength over a prolonged duration - like stone lifting (strength) compared to Olympic lifters who perform short bursts of movement to do, for example, the clean and jerk (power).

Power cleans are pretty basic and common exercise for power.

Yes, I thought he would have been on Fury undercard as that's what he has been doing, he was very active to now nothing..really needs to keep that momentum going...

I think he's a good prospect...but needs to keep busy or he will just go backwards.

I was really surprised to see him dropped from it or at least not fighting at all, your right about the fights. Even if heis working on stff in the gym he needs some fights lining up to execute it all, he hasnt been out in about 6 months....still chance he can get in 3 fights this year possibly 4. So far though, silence. i asked him on twitter when he was back out and got blanked lmao

I reckon he's probably looking for another promoter, be a good addition to the Hearn stable.

I'm hoping he has finally figured out how worthless he actually is and decided to retire.

Well put. I personally think he's quite decent but lacks a bit of power. But like you say, that can still change, look at ricky burns.

Ricky is by no means a power puncher, but he has improved his condition and technique under Billy Nelson and that means his punches have more affect. There quicker, coming from better angles etc so become more powerful. Also I think the move up in weight has helped Burns, and I think Eubank Jnr should be at 168lbs.

Yeah I wasn't suggesting burns is a power puncher, just that he is definetly hitting harder now than in previous years when people described him as feather fisted. Not the case anymore with the right training. This is what eubank jnr needs to focus on, which he probably is.

also Burns is 30 now, turned pro at 18. Will naturally be stronger.
