    C'mon, guys...

If you win a world championship or title as a pro, you haven't failed. Period. You've accomplished more that 99 percent of the fighters who have ever stepped into the ring, even taking into account the current proliferation of sanctioning bodies.

Hell...Even if you contend for a world title, you really haven't failed. You'd gone father than most, even in the current day.

That said, I think Ed Harris and Robert Wangila would be examples of two Olympic champions who failed to contend, and who both met untimely and unfortunate ends in the ring.

*Some of the guys mentioned won titles... how can that be unsuccesful? Kelsey Banks never even came close to being great... he was a great amatuer, then got ko'ed in the first in the olympics!

Howard Davis never won the title... people thought he was the next welterweight Ali... many in here prob don't remember him. he did fight for the title twice.

Good post. Im always saying this. Even people that challenged for a title an came up short went far in their profession. If a fighter is getting a title shot he is very solid an has talent at his craft

frankie gavin could be a contender. just seems to be going nowhere. so naturally talented but seems so caught up in other stuff. didnt make weight at an olympics as well, which kind of sums his career up.
