I doubt Floyd/Guerrero can break 1.1 Milliong PPV....

I think it will do right at a million but not much more. Floyd is well known I mean he made an appearance at the Final Four on tv in front of how many millions of people?

You don't have to have Showtime to know about the fight or buy it.

 

Floyd is a far bigger draw than even, yes, Canelo. He's only done less than a million once since the Oscar fight, and that was against Hatton back in 2007. He did 1.25 against a Victor Ortiz with similarly little name value. Finally, keep in mind that access issues cut both ways: yes you have to pay for the Floyd fight, but anyone can get it, not just Showtime subscribers (which was obviously not the case with Alvarez-Trout).

 

I'd be surprised if it doesn't break a million.

 

Every Mayweather fight will do 1 mil buys. Hes has to many fans and to many haters. Also him and Pacquiao are still the only boxer that is known by the general public. Canelo is getting there but still has a ways to go.

Comparing the Canelo-Trout fight to a Mayweather fight is nuts. only a small group of people know who Trout is. plus nobody in the genral public knows who he is, and if it wasnt for the Cotto fight people even on ESB would know who Trout was.

Canelo is getting alot bigger but hes not Mayweather yet, in popularity, so you cant compare at all

Because of all the time spent trying to iron out Floyd's deal with Showtime, there was no press tour or much advance publicity at the time the fight was announced.

The "All Access" shows haven't done well. The drop in viewership from the first to the 2nd one was pretty steep. And Showtime debuting them on a Wednesday as opposed to a Saturday after boxing like HBO does is a huge waste of a marketing opportunity.

Floyd's movie was boring and lame.

Guerrero is not a well known fighter outside of boxing circles and other than the gun arrest won't be providing much in the way of additional buys.

And because Floyd got the big Showtime guarantee, he doesn't need to promote the fight. And he is doing a good job of it.

 

Doubt a hater would buy this fight though seeing as Guerrero has absolutely 0 chance and noone really believes otherwise.

 

I'm sticking with my prediction of 1.1 -- the bad part for SHO is that this is apparently what they need just to break even. That's Fat Dan's estimate though, so take it FWIW.

It won't have as many buys as it would have if it was on HBO, that's for sure. Man, FMJ going from HBO to Showtime is like a guy going from the NFL to the AFL.

Is it a good thing if they lose millions of dollars? Maybe get the message that people want better fights. Too bad there isn't **** there for Floyd aside from a Canelo matchup and that unbelievably, Guerrero literally is the best available at 147.

 

Thats all showtime's fault You forget how much more HBO puts into actually promoting fights, especially with 2 big money men like Floyd and Pac there, and there boxing budget isn't even THAT big. Show is really only working with half of what HBO had to spend.

Marquez needs to weasel out of his TR contract. Get on it Oscar :deal
