Howard Cosell thought Young won Ali fight

With Ali's fame and standing in boxing, no way were judges going to take away his title on a decision unless he was beaten to a pulp. Too bad the judges didn't give Holmes the same respect when he fought Spinks the 1st time. The fights had similarities. Both defending champs were stymied by awkward fighters in fights that weren't aesthetically pleasing. But Holmes was no Ali in terms of reputation so he lost his title and his dream of finishing 50-0.

 

Young did win.. is there any doubt of this?

 

I just about gave the first Holmes-Spinks fight to the challenger. Holmes appeared listless in that one,and looked like he did n't give a **** at times.

Larry should have been given the nod in the return.

 

Billy Aird once KOd lenny mc lean in the tomas a'beckett gym when Lenny tried to take liberties whilst sparring. Aird was retired at the time

A friend of mine worked with Billy Aird quite a few years after Billy retired. I never met him but I did talk to him one night on my mate's mobile phone. Billy said that he wanted to fight Frank Bruno,but nobody came up with enough money.
