A lot of boxing trainers will swear that long roadwork is the best thing for a boxers fitness. Mention bioenergetic specificity and you'll get a blank look. It really should just be common sense but apparently because a champion did it in the 20's that overrides the laws of physiology. You won't find any other sports emulating athletes training from old times. It's something to be proud of in boxing though for some reason, probably because of the silly hero worship of fighters from the past. You won't find any other sport where 'old school' training is considered a positive thing. :-(
