I was shouting at him to throw punches. It wasn't until after the fight that I realized that he was doing the best he could in there. He had some great spurts, but that nose was just gone. I give The Nightmare props for being so tough. He could have quit, but he sure as hell didn't. He's tough! He lost and took it like a man. I liked that he did that.

What you said is not related to the fact that he has never taken his boxing career seriously by coming in shape. That is the point. How good he really was or is even if he were to be in shape is not the point. The point is he never gave himself a chance to maximize whatever talents he had by taking his career seriously. This also isn't a question about his heart or courage.

Yes he lacks skills and that is partly due to his poor dedication to training. What does he do in training camp? He get's himself in shape to go twelve rounds nothing more, he doesn't improve his skills at all, as a fighter he has not changed at all, same old Arreola in every single fight.

A dedicated fighter who comes in shape to training camp can use the time to improve their skills, work on a strategy for that fight instead of spending 8-10 weeks just getting into shape.

Maybe Arreola would have improved as a fighter had he been more dedicated maybe not we will never know. But he never game himself the opportunity to become a more complete fighter.

It wasn't Arreola's weight that lost him the fight last night. Stiverne was more focused, had a proper gameplan, landing tons of bodyshots that were zapping Chris' energy. Arreola's bleeding nose didn't help his effort neither.

Stiverne was just the better boxer.

He wouldn't have improved as a fighter because his coach is whack.

Fact is, weight is not his main problem. He could win the fights he loses (besides Vitali) at his weight.... its his quality that's the problem.

He could have won tonight, with a good gameplan, and a higher IQ. Had practically nothing to do with his weight. Hell, the guy he was fighting was as fat as him.

Yes.... of course, hed be better if he was in shape. Of course, if he was in shape he could work on skills if he had a coach who could teach them.

Regardless, his failure stems from his quality and skills.... not his weight. He wouldn't have won any fight hes lost by just being 'in shape', and he could have won adamek and tonight in the shape he was in, if he was just a better fighter.

No, my point is, people keep saying 'what could have been' with arreola, as if his shape is what is keeping him from success, and that's simply not true.

Of course he didn't maximize his talents. That's obvious. Im saying that at the end of the day, it doesn't truly matter, and was responding to the comments 'if he had been in shape, then ect, ect', and Im saying his losses has less to do with his shape then they do with his actual ability.

Of course he didn't maximize his potential. That's not what I was responding to.

His shape is a reflection of how seriously he takes his career.
I have no doubt he's been taught movement and angles throughout his training life but just can't be arsed because he's got a good beard.

I don't think Arreola is a disgrace, he lost a few times. It doesn't matter much. It happens in boxing. He is probably not championship level. but that doesn't mean he is a disgrace. He has had a good career and has heart and comes to fight. Puts his all in boxing.

Arreola is not a bad boxer, but he has to ask himself why he's losing against guys like Adamek and Stiverne. These guys aren't much better than him but they got a little edge on him.

Discipline? Determination? That little extra work in the gym, working out a strategy? Following a proper gameplan instead of mindless banging?

Arreola's always been overrated. Beat a bunch of bums, and everybody seems to think he's a works beater. There was never a new improved dedicated fighter. Even if he would come into shape. The guy fights like a caveman.
