You sound like such a righteous smug *******... "Once you get more familiar with boxing you'll understand" shut the **** up. Who are you to have a better opinion than anyone else over the ****ing internet? You're annoying, is what you are (not saying you're particularly stupid from what I've seen, but you are a self-righteous princess).

It's all about who you fought, when you fought them, how the fight went, and the result.

Not just that you fought them, and not just that you beat them like you say. Otherwise you get a skewed significance of a career if those are the only two factors in the equation. That criteria wouldn't consider for close fights, robberies, age, point of careers, etc.

Every performance affects your legacy (the more this is true for the more hardcore the critic or fan is).

In my opinion. Unless you truly believe that losses cannot impact a fighters' standing.

The bottom line is this; Sergio would be better thought of and rightfully so for retiring tomorrow than he would for fighting and losing decisively in his next fight to Golovkin, and then retire.

his 38 year old body is starting to show it's age

he also has that style of using ring movement speed and reflexes, and obviously needs very good conditioning, with age that all fades and you're left with a solid fighter at best

As a Martinez fan, I agree.

Shut the **** up you clown, have you seen this guy's threads? He asked why boxers don't wear groin protectors in fights the other day, along with another 100 ****** threads. He's obviously new to boxing, hence the comment.

Martinez should hang em up now.

He can't change up his style and his style is one that can only be fought when in his prime, he should retire now he's losing it.

Its a pity but it looks like he could be finished. If he doesn't fight again this year, then next year it'll be hard to come back at nearly 40 after injuries and layoffs, especially with his style which depends on movement and reflexes (not suited to old fighters)

Ok, the guy aged overnight, but let's not forget that Martinez is to 160, as Bradley is to 140-147 (not including May, Pac). Bradley is not head and shoulders above the rest of the competition.

Anyone else notice how after the KD that wasnt given, sergio crawled back to the corner like he did vs Chavez? Seemed like he was struggling. Anyway, his knee being done probs left him unable to do as much roadwork. He finished quite strongly so maybe some posters on here are a) overreacting and b) underrating murray. Fair play to the challenger. Him vs chavez wld be a ****ing war

Dont think he does roadwork anyway. He cycles. He used to be a competitive cyclist.

But yes people are massively over-reacting.

1.Apparently he broke his hand in this fight
2.It was his first fight back after surgery
3.Martin Murray isnt some bum, hes an undefeated, ranked fighter.

Martinez should rematch Chavez Jr and retire...agree with above, his style relies on quick reflexes and movement which are first things to go with age...he's getting hit flush its too many big shots from bigger guys

He has no business fighting GGG or Canelo

38 years old and fighting with the high-intensity style he has? Not surprised his body is breaking down. That hands-down style has landed him in trouble in sooooo many fights recently.

He was constantly throwing shots at Murray's forearms, more than likely broke his hand by hitting Murray's elbow at some point.
He can't really be excused for the performance and on many people's score cards losing the fight as the broken hand was self inflicted more than likely due to his own poor tactical decision.

    :deal

Somewhat similar to Calzaghe although I don't think Martinez was ever as good.

Late 30's southpaw with a hands down style based on speed and high quantity punching beginning to slow down and punch resistance starting to wear down.
