"Maravilla" got dropped twice by punches, the referee was helping him get up, pulling his trunks up, and whenever Sergio got rocked the ref entered the action to stop it for a few seconds and resume it. I'm a Martinez fan, but come on, it was disgusting looking at all that A) How they scored the fight. B) How the ref was helping him all throughout the fight. C) How he ruled the second knockdown a slip. Even argentinians on twitter are saying how they clearly saw Martinez lose against the better man.
If the 2nd knockdown had been ruled a knockdown, Murray could have won. I can't see Martinez fighting much longer.
I usually disagree with Harold Lederman but he scored that fight correctly. Murray needed that second knockdown to be officially scored in order to get a draw. He didn't win and Martinez didn't lose. At worse Sergio scored a draw. Murray was impressive at times. But he gave away too many early rounds by doing nothing but block punches. The championship rds made a difference in my book. Had Murray stepped it up and won the 12th I would've given him the fight.
At this point, Chavez would destroy him. Seems like the surgery really messed up with Martinez's style.
It was a close fight(not a highway robbery), and on Martinezs home turf. Martinez WON, deal with it. he does however need to think about hanging them up soon, maybe one more big fight.
I watched, I thought he lost also. Good event, good opponant, could enhance legacy. Sergio should fight canelo at 54
