No robbery but Murray won that

The only caveat being that he knew the scores after eight and knew he'd have to have a strong last few, but he didn't quite push it hard enough

Would a certain Argentinian Prime Minister be influencing proceedings at this event? It is not beyond the realms of possibility by any means.

I gave it to Martinez but Murray gave him the hardest night of boxing for many a fight.
I think after this Martinez is done and Murray will rise up and win the belt shortly.

And the HBO broadcast, woth no national affiliation, had Martinez winning by a point. It proves nothing in a close fight. The Murray apologists would have you believe he conclusively won the fight when he really didn't.

And you stated that this was merely a 'tune-up' for Martinez! Some tune-up!:yep

Yeah, Sergio had a really bad night, no doubt. He doesn't look far from being shot. The lay-off and injury might have been a factor with ring-rust, but he was struggling to get shots off and his shot anticipation was pretty poor.

Murray put on a great performance, I just wish every close fight wasn't followed by cries of robbery.

When you factor in the knockdown Murray wins.

No national affiliation, but a direct one with Martinez himself.

Exactly. They are hardly going to give it to Murray unless they truly believe he deserved it.

I just wish the decision of every close fight wouldn't automatically be given to the home/money fighter.

In no way could you say the commentary was pro-Martinez. It was as balanced as HBO gets - they frequently credited Murray for his work and were overtly critical of Martinez. A 114-113 card is hardly evidence of bias.

It wasn't called as a knockdown so that point is moot. Murray knew how close the fight was coming into the championship rounds. He admitted himself he let it slip away. He needed to take all the championship rounds and he didn't.

A one point fight cannot be a robbery when it's been competitive throughout.

How can you score a fight 8-4 in rounds, theres one knockdown, but you only have a point difference?
