Proper devout Muslims as I understand more likely the older generation would frown upon boxing (and most things).7

He has appeal to young Asians though for sure although how many of them are full on "muslims" im not sure.

I would go and watch the lad he seems decent enough. So he is proud of his original heritage and British that's fine with this gent :deal

 

I do enjoy the fact that when a Khan fight is up his and his whole team start saying everyone pray and pray and pray some more for khan to win etc etc and then likely after the fight they kick back a few shots and end up at a strip club and forget the pray part.

 

What the **** was wrong with that?

Naz was not the only religous fighter out there, Garcia-Judah were quoting religous stuff last night. What about Tysons Allah stuff?

How can a fighter talking about his religion make you hate him......:-(

 

I was at the fight. He did not sell out the arena, nowhere near... I'd say 2 3rds full.

 

I find the oddly personalized hatred Khan gets a bit bewildering; why take his flaky defence as a personal insult - I am pretty sure it's not deliberate. And, being self-confident and a bit self-deluded is hardly unusual in a boxer. You might say it's a prerequisite: to be willing to step into a ring must require a certain level of self-confidence and optimism despite the odds.

Sad thing is that there's little he can do to redeem himself in the haters' eyes. How much more vitriol would he get if, say, he wasn't consistently in exciting fights, hadn't represented his country with distinction, and didn't spend his own time and money helping his community.

 

The Catholic Tyson Fury mentions his religion after every fight.

 

Paulie Mc.Listened to your podcast yesterday and enjoyed it,but would argue with a few of your opinions.I think you said that Sheffield would be the wrong place for Khan to get support,he'd be better in London or Manchester.Well,Sheffield,and Yorkshire in general,has a large Asian community.Remember a show in Nottingham he headlined and I was among a lot of Asian lads from all over the country i.e.travelling fans.Plus as has been said the Sheffield venue was a big one.Not surprising it wasn't full.
Regarding the Naz discussion.Exciting fighter,near great.But never came across for me as nice a lad as Khan.Pseudo American talk,tried to intimidate opponents,took the **** out of them{all bar one}then retired after beaten,unlike Khan.Give me Amir any day,although I still think he's in decline now.

True, but there was a reported 10,000 there for his fight with Matt Hatton. Khan repeatedly boasted that he had sold more tickets than Brook in his hometown which was not true.

I agree, its a disgrace. The same thing happened with Froch, I went to a couple of his early fights in Nottingham, and the place was virtually full of casuals from Nottingham. Shocking state of affairs.

 

There where 9,200 there. 4000?. Ask people who actually went to the fight they will certainly tell you. But yes there wer sections shut

 

It was Radio 5live who said about 4,000 during the fight commentary - they were obviously there.
I heard they'd only sold 2,500 2 days before the fight and then loads of freebies were given out. One of my pals who got a free ticket said 4.000 sounded about right.
