The listed 4 inch height difference is very significant. The very tip of Qawi's head would be just past Hagler's eyes if that was the case. No footwear or lean can diminish a difference of that size unless Qawi is in stilettos.
http://bronxbanter.arneson.name/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/tyson_freeimage700_27432a.jpg oops Bad news for Hagler. Maybe 5'8"?
There is an excellent photo of a 5'8" man with Tyson at the aforementioned celebheights. This guy's height is beyond question as I've never known a human being who has measured himself more regularly than this guy named "Rob". Unfortunately for Marvellous Marvin, if anything he looks shorter next to Tyson than 5'8" Rob
To put things into perspective on how different pictures can make people look... This content is protected Holmes is 6'4, Ward is 5'8, Wlad 6'6, Cooney 6'7. Clearly Holmes looks the tallest here, taller than both Cooney and Wlad, who we know for a fact are both 2-3 inches taller than Holmes. This content is protected Here, Holmes looks about 3 inches shorter than Wlad, and 2 inches shorter than Cooney. Cooney is actually taller than Wlad, who appears the tallest out of the group here. Same exact line up and pictures taken seconds apart, but a simple shift in position skewed how tall they look next to eachother.
People can shrink with age, too. I think Tyson has shrunk at least an inch. He looks to be closer to 5'9 nowadays than in his heyday.
But those are terrible photos which are obviously on shocking angles and it's easy to see how they are distorted. Also, Cooney v Wlad is just an example of another bad listing. I'm very confident Wlad actually IS taller than Cooney. Ward 5'7" Holmes 6'3" Cooney 6'5-6'6" Wlad 6'6" :smoke
Cooney was actually on celebheights before they removed a bunch of boxing guys, he looked nowhere near 6'7" so I think they gave him 6'5 1/2" or something like that. A measured 5'6.75" guy named "Glenn" met Pacquiao and towered him by about 3 inches, they generously gave Pac 5'5" :smoke
Yes people shrink with age, but Tyson is not that old! And it's not like his sport involved him getting dropped on his head or suffering spinal injuries etc
Cooney also rarely stands straight up anymore, which would take an inch or two off his height. He's almost always hunched over a bit. During the staredown of Holmes-Cooney and Spinks-Cooney, Cooney was clearly 3-4 inches taller. Regardless, I've met Hagler, I've met Hearns, I've met Leonard, and all of their listed heights seem correct. I'm 5'8. Marvin was about an inch taller than me. Hearns was 4 or 5 inches taller, and Leonard was like 2 inches taller.
Well as I said, I do believe Hearns is near enough 6'1". There seems to be a lot of good evidence to suggest Hagler is only 5'8" though and it's not at all hard to meet someone and be slightly off on their height. All I'm saying is I'd trust my own observation and judgment any day over listed heights which are really just however tall the guy wants to say he is. It wouldn't surprise me at all, for example, if Wlad was taller than Cooney as many boxers exaggerate 1-2 inches while both Klitschkos appear to be their listed heights. Have you not noticed that generally the Klitschkos appear to have a greater advantage over opponents than the tale of the tape suggests?
Yeah....I find it hard to believe he is just 6'5" flat but I don't think he is more than 6'6"....that's just what happens when you have an honest barefoot height vs a fake/in shoes height. Compared to other heavies Wlad looks 6'7" because they lie. What about Austin Trout? His 5'9 1/2" is a lot taller than Hagler's 5'9 1/2" imo...
:deal The picture of Hearns next to Holyfield shows that Hearns is a lot closer to the camera as well. I really don't understand how people don't pick up on these things immediately.
