the murray-martinez fight was not close at all

    martinez showed great ring generalship he was ducking and slipping the punches quite well, maybe murray landed the crisper shots but he was inconsistent with his work, to win rounds you need to be more dominating imo. You can't get outboxed for 2 minutes then land a couple of eye catching shots in the final minute and expect to win the round.

    My point has always been that it was a close fight. Thats why I am taking issue with Ironsense's and to a degree your posts, and why I disagreed with the robbery shouts . Nobody can say "Clearly XXX won that that fight"

    I had it 114-113 to Murray.

    Rounds 4,5,6 were open to interpretation, and I gave 2 of them to Murray whereas you gave 2 to Martinez.

    But Murray wasn't dominating back. There was never a point where he hurt Murray, he never consistently backed him up. Sure he slipped shots but it was far from a defenses masterclass. Murray knocked him down twice, messed his face up.

    Nobody dominated the fight. So you score it to the fighter that landed more shots (Murray), was busier (Murray), and had the bigger moments in the fight (Murray).

    for me his moments were few and far between and weren't enough to win him the fight, he had 3 big moments the 2 KD's and in the 6th when sergio was laying along the ropes allowing himself to get punched.
    his face got messed up because of the head clash, you reckon, his face was marked up because of the punches, the headbutt opened the cut. martinez had murray hurt in the 12th he was backpedaling after getting countered, and so what if sergio was marked up the man is 38 the collogen on his face isn't all that strong(he has more scar tissue from having more fights), he'll obviously show more wear.

    At the end of the day, it was a good close fight that could have gone either way depending on how the person saw it and viewed the action. To say **** like it wasn't close in one guys favour is just plain dumb.

    good close fight. murray did amazing considering. a genuine hard ******* and worth way more attention than he gets, and certainly more than some of the superstars of uk boxing.

    I haven't seen the fight. But when you score two knockdowns, throw and land more (including power shots) and still lose the fight, I think you can count yourself quite unlucky.

    I had it 114 - 113 to Martinez so definitely not a robbery in any way.

    Very close fight... Murray should have had a second knock down, but on the flip side, he didn't push on enough in the final 2 rounds to take the title from the champion. I had him one up going in to those and he lost the 11th and 12th.
