Mendoza not being rude here but after I posted I thought to myself if I had to pick a poster from the classic that would pick vitali who would it be . And your name was the first that popped into my head
actually 70s ali is the overrated one, usually the klitschkos brother are underrated h2h to be honest. the real ali was cassius clay 64/ali 67 this one would beat anyone, not the "inflated" 70s ali
Ali from before 75 wasn't at all overrated when he was in tip top condition, he just didn't train has hard as he should have. When faced with the reality of facing a destroyer in foreman, he trained like a demon and rolled back the years to put on a masterclass in Zaire!
Gotta agree a championship performer like Ali needs to be motivated to produce the goods and against a real threat like Klitschko he would have delivered the goods.
in the 90%of the fantasy matchs the people pick ali because he is ali... even if he was past his prime or he had tons of problems with fighters like norton. ali wins he is the greatest lalal
The only thing I would say about vitali not loosing many rounds is that might have something to do with the vast majority of his opponents have been of a low standard. Not his fault he can only fight the fighters around in his era
Ali lost lots of rounds to non elite level fighters. Vitali is too big, too strong, and too active In addition he is hard to catch cleanly.
I must admit vitali fights at times with a very wide stance which tends to give away some of his height advantage but does help him defensively and uses his hands defensively quite well as catching/parrying mitts . Rather like my uncle showed me when describing old boxers from many years past.
It took great fighters to bring out the best in Ali. He looked disinterested in his struggles with average foe's. Vitali wouldn't know what to do with Ali. Who the hell did he beat that matches anywhere near the talent of Ali.
I think Vitali has trouble with Ali's handspeed. He's just better in the pocket. If it's the Ali of the Foreman fight, he has enough to win.
