Audley announces retirement

Its a dark day for British Boxing today that is for sure.

Not to worry, Audley will do a Gandalph and come back Audley "The White"

The dream is NOT unrealized. Get back up Audley! You can't tell everybody else to not give up on their hopes, dreams and aspirations, if you are gonna quit!!!

Setbacks apparently pave the way for comebacks, remember? :deal

You know why he has given up? He hasn't got a woman like Adrien Balboa or a trainer like Mick or Apollo. :deal

 

He included opponents in the people Audley never hurt.

 

You could of charged 50 quid for that fight and the zombie sheepeople would of paid for it.

He fooled a nation, and that is probably his greatest achievement. I applaud him for that, all the casuals and zombies fell for it and bought the fight.

He was consistent to. Consistently ****, yet consistently a great hypnotist and salesman.

Boxing will be worse without Audley.

I can see three possible ventures for Audley now after boxing.

1) Jeremy Kyle style presenter - "I can't believe its not Trisha Goddard"
2) Derren Brown style show "REDEMPTION LIVE"
3) Windows salesman "Destiny Windows....UGG (Unbreakable Glass Guarantee)"

 

He be better at one of the BOGOF adverts.

Audley Harrison- Chatty Man

 

They actually announced this on the radio earlier. I couldn't believe it!

He may be a bit of a comedy act, but he is more of a household name than 95% of British boxers around today.

 

Wilder ending careers

 

For all the deserved criticism he's had a fine career pro and am. He was his own worst enemy really, but he won plenty of titles and showed heart and determination at times - esp. the last gasp sprott ko and, although he failed to become a world champion, how many fighters achieve that?

He's done more with his life than you'll ever do.:good

 

And so one of British boxing's most colourful and controversial figures rides off into the sunset. Thank you Audley mate, you were truly inspiring.

Audley gets a lot of stick but he did so much for British boxing. His Olympic triumph got the country (and the broadcasters) interested in boxing again when it had pretty much become a dead sport after the 90's greats all retired.

Audley paved the way for so many amateurs to compete at the Olympics and win their own medals for this country. You don't have to like Audley but he deserves your respect, no two ways about it.

It didn't happen for him as a professional but it wasn't through lack of trying. How many fighter's over the years have been supremely talented and could have achieved great things but have wasted their careers because they lacked the heart or interest? If those fighters had even a fraction of Harrison's self-belief and enthusiasm think of what they could have achieved.

Good luck Audley mate, go back to California or wherever it is you live, pour yourself a drink or two and have a nice relax by your swimming pool with your family.
