That's the biggest thing with any fighter. Like Shane, it was like he was tentative in the ring, afraid to let the hands go.
Yeah but he always finished an overmatched opponent. He was never a spectacular KO artist at LHW but he would be active enough to the point the corner would throw in the towel.
I think it might start adding up with Mayweather. Like Roy Jones, if Mayweather starts getting tagged more and more he might just start letting his hands go less and less and only in short spurts. I'm not saying he will lose, but I'm starting to see a very similar pattern that was evident with Roy Jones for awhile and people ignored it back then. At least Mayweather won't be losing 25lbs of muscle so late in his career.
Nah, he didn't. Nearly all of them were overmatched. And a lot went the distance. And they used to complain about him being gunshy...while he was in his prime. And they'd blame it on Gerald McClellan or whatever.

Roy was pretty small for a light heavy also, so I was surprised at some of his knockouts at that weight actually. Some fighters seemed to adjust to his power as the fight went on and he just would win rounds instead of pushing for the knockout. How Richard Hall took that beating though is still amazing
Nobody mention how spectactular he was looking against Ortiz before the flying headbutt. Floyd still has it, he's just trimmed down his style a little bit.
Not at LHW. He wasn't spectacular at all after the successive KOs of Griffin and Hill. In fact, most of his fights that got "stopped" after that were damn near embarrassing, with the exception of the Hall fight. He didn't really begin stopping opponents legitimately again until Glen Kelley.
He was landing the right hand at will and really opened up early in the 4th. But he also got stunned in the 4th and was backed into the ropes. The fight ended to fast to tell how he would have kept holding up to the pressure that Ortiz started putting on in the middle of the 4th round.
He wasnt stunned he was caught off balance while throwing an uppercut. The fact Floyd was throwing uppercuts off the cuff in the 4th round shows how comfortable he was. Floyd was laughing at Ortiz on the ropes. atsch
Many fighters laugh, even when they are hurt or uncomfortable. I get a feeling many fans are ignoring the fact that he is getting tagged more and more and being backed into the ropes by fighters that would have hardly touched him in his prime. I'm not saying he is going to lose, but why on earth people ignore the signs is beyond me.
