He was the best or second best flyweight in the world for more than a decade by my reckoning...and for most of that he was the best. His opposition wasn't great, but it was flyweight, not minimum, there were some excellent fighters in that decade.

Plus, he came again. Longevity is the half of it...I rate him but i'll hear opinions.

    OK.

Taken straight up, I think Pryor is above Tyson. But. I don't much care for the Arguello fights for one reason and another, and that can put Tyson ahead.

What are you guys suggesting here, Tyson higher or Pryor lower?

    Tier II

    Tier III
Aaron Pryor, Mike Tyson, Antonio Cervantes, Joe Brown, Joe Calzaghe, Marcel Cerdan, Battling Battalino, Fidel LaBarbara, Sammy Fuller.

    TIER IV

Changes are in bold. Feels a little too early for Myung-woo yuh to me, but does anyone want to second his introduction to the rapidly forming Tier VI?

Tyson higher. The Douglas loss is difficult to get around, but he totally cleaned house in really dominant fashion. Also has solid longevity for a guy who was so successful so young and operated in that style. One of the most impressive fighters we have on film, not just among heavyweights either. I think that last bit is really Pryor's highest selling point and I think Mike has him beat there.

All true, but Pryor beat Arguello. Tyson hasn't beaten anyone fit to sniff Arguello's ****. How are you seeing those wins?

    Well, he wasted Spinks.

Pryor's struggling with his faded ATG moving up in weight doesn't totally trump that, even if Arguello was in a better state than Spinks. This is especially true given the controversy and all.

Tyson has the stronger overall resume.

I think I could stomach seeing them in the same tier in the light of the circumstances as far as Arguello I is concerned. It doesn't seem objectionable.
