I'd have to say balance and correct weight distribution is the most important quality in my opinion, because it is crucial to virtually everything a boxer needs. The very best have great balance, which enables them to do what they do great, whether that be power or speed, or even be able to take huge punches well. Balance and stance provides the foundations to a fighter, if you aint got that essential then you might as well look for another sport. Boxers with poor balance and incorrect foot plantation, tend to look vulnerable and do get exposed.

If you want a great fighter with great balance, look at Floyd Mayweather in the Shane Mosley fight, when he gets tagged a couple of times in the second round. The moment the punches land he immediately almost as if by nature, transitions his weight forward and locks onto the arms of Mosley, by putting all his weight on Mosley after he is rocked, Mosley is forced to take that weight until Mayweather fully recovers.

A true master of his craft, expert of balance and weight distribution, perfectly proportioned, ready for any possibility.

I don't believe there is a most important attribute, I feel they all compliment each other and you'd need to find 3-4 things that make champions and add a few other special attributes that makes fighters special.

I mean for all the talk of some fighters having massive hearts they also have some ability that makes them effective. I find it hard to just point to one..

Balance is vital no doubts about it, But it's probably mentality that sets many fighters apart IMO. There mentality to train harder and longer and take more pain and be confident enough to take risks. But even then it doesn't become the most important but one of the most important factors in a fighters make up.

I actually think like any sport there are more naturally gifted athletes which includes the will to win, the heart to push yourself further, the never say die attitude.

Take that person and coach / teach them how to box and train for boxing will always be better than someone who isn't such a natural.

Core strength, agility , speed , again I reckon the natural person is better.

Conditioning across the board - stamina, recovery, durability etc Technique can all be taught but it doesn't matter if you are a Ferrari, you aren't beating a Mini if there is no gas in the tank.
