After watching that final press conference and seeing no response from Floyd to Ruben's outburst it is clear that the villain persona is dead and buried. We saw in the build up to the Cotto fight a less outspoken Floyd and in this fight build up he has barely said any trash talk. He has secured a big deal with showtime so he may feel he doesn't need to go all out to promote the fights or maybe with age he has grown out of the villain persona. He also said to a reporter when asked about Ruben's outburst after the press conference, that he is now older and wiser and just focused on "racking in victories". One thing I saw was a look on a mans face who wanted to retaliate but is channeling that anger in a different way. I have a feeling Guerrero is going to get a serious beat down in this fight, this press conference has confirmed that view.
I saw Floyd grit his teeth and then smile during Rubens tirade. I think Floyd is going to do his talking in the ring.
Once you beat up your ex wife its hard to carry on playing the villain that **** will come back to bite you
what did you want him to say? "the ****in ***** deserved it!". floyd shut his mouth because he knows there is nothing he can say to defend from that. he is still gonna talk bull**** when he doesnt have to answer for it directly, hes just gonna do it like a *****, on twitter and surrounded by all his parasites.
I did notice when they had the stare down how Mayweather could almost see right through Guerrero, I sensed a little fear in Guerrero which was awkward. Floyd win via TKO9!
What could Floyd possibly say back? Those you think he doesn't trash talk, should see the face off. Floyd isn't one to trash talk in the final press conference, the weigh in maybe a different story.
He's getting a little older, and yes, wiser. His performance against Cotto, the way he handled himself leading up to the fight, and his immediate post fight interviews were classy. A sign of real maturity. His acting like a victim because he had to go to County Jail shows he's not there yet, though.
Just compared to previous fight build ups I haven't seen the same "villain persona" in the Cotto & Guerrero build ups. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpQPEJ74vRg
The villain presona should have died off after he fought De La Hoya. It made sense than. De La Hoya may have been the most popular boxer ever. He was going to have the crowd behind him. As Mayweather emerged as the best boxer in the world he should have shed the image. It's one thing to be brash, aragent and cockey, but boxing needs it's best to be more good guy than bad guy.
