Perhaps this is irrelevant but for those who don't think it will, but if HBO PPV had this fight, do you give it a higher chance to break 1m buys? Considering Ortiz - not a huge star (though a more known name than Guerrero) broke it...
Guerrero has been fighting at a championship level for years before Ortiz was. I think more boxing fans know Guerrero than Ortiz.
I refuse to pay $70 to watch Void fight a featherweight.....................Void refused to fight Martinez at 150, refused to fight Paul Williams, Margarito, Pac, Alvarez, Trout. Void, "The Woman Beater" wants to fight Christy Martin.............
Ortiz was more promotable IMO. He had speed & power and put down every fighter he ever fought on the canvas. More sizzle to promoting that fight. Ortiz was decently hyped up by HBO/GP so people were definitely more familiar with him than Guerrero. I tend to think if it does it barely will. But I'm only 60/40. It's all a hunch really. How the hell can we know.
"officially"? yes. In reality? maybe. I find it strange that in eras where boxing was more popular and had more popular fighters, they rarely hit a million. In the Floyd era, every PPV is 1 million + though the general public seems to care less about the sport than ever before.
I voted no although it will be somewhere around 1 million buys IMO. I hope it doesn't, I want Showtime to lose as much as possible on their deal with Mayweather.
It's the cinco de mayo weekend.. of course it will break a million buys & not that great of a card. The only interesting thing in this fight is to see how Floyd will look from his lay off. A quieter Mayweather and a boring Guerrero in All Access didn't help much but its Mayweather and its cinco de mayo weekend
