If Klitschkos would retire now everyone would be like ''oh, it was just a weak era that made them look good'' 10 years ahead and people are talking about current champs: ''Oh, this guy wouldn't get past of wladimir's jab'' ''Vitali would have had easy time with this guy'' This just a way it works.. :deal
Depends where you're from many people from the US and UK will say they dominated a weak division and were boring. Whist those from Continental Europe will say they're one of the greatest. I think they will go down as dominant for a decade, the division was weaker than some glory years but they would have been a challenge for any of the greatest heavyweights in history
They won't be. Except for MAYBE in a largely irrelevant small corner of the world. Not anywhere that actually matters though. The Klitschko reign is about as unmemorable and dull as it gets. Once Wlad starts getting KTFO again about a year or two from now, the Klitschko name will quickly fade into obscurity. Anybody remember Dariusz Michalczewski? Yeah, most people don't. Except for the hardcorest of hardcore boxing fans. And he was a longtime "champ" and HUGE draw in Germany during the 90's-early 2000's. But is now an afterthought in the boxing world, a mere faded memory. A long reigning nearly decade "champ" with 20+ (mostly paper) title defenses who will probably never even get in the HOF. The Klitschko's won't even hold the level of historical OR contemporary reverance in their own backyard as guys like Tyson & Ali. Seriously, didn't a Russian Klitschko fan get stabbed to death by another Russian not to long ago for having the audacity to compare Wladimir Klitschko to Mike Tyson? :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl We haven't had a lineal champ in the Heavyweight division since Lennox retired. Please don't conflate the RING title with a lineal/undisputed one.
The general forum says it all. He's defending all his belts Saturday and there's only one thread there with the same 4-5 people posting in it. The majority of casual boxing fans would be happy to see them gone from the sport. Neither have achieved anything great and wont be remembered as great.
Why do you need stats Wlad fights are live and free to watch online :rofl he cant sell pay per view and fights on a shitty free to air channel in germany PS when his fight was free to watch online boxing fans still did not watch
Vitali: a head-to-head heavyweight great based on his incredible size, strength, distance control, awkward delivery and movement, reflexes, durability, and heavy hands. Will not have the resume to match his ability. Wladimir: one of the most dominant heavyweight champions in boxing history, albeit in a sub-par era. His chin issues will hurt him in mythical matchups against most of the big hitting heavyweight greats, but he will be remembered favorably. I think history will be kind to Wladimir, especially if no dominant heavyweight champions come along within the next decade following his future retirement.
Are most people now underrating Lennox or over rating Vitali? Because the more I watch Lewis's tko6 fight the more it seem like Lennox did a very good job despite being almost 38 and 260 pounds.. He pushed Vitali like no one ever had.. and was clearly winning the 2nd half of that fight. So is Lennox even GREATER than we think? And the tko6 fight brought even more greatness out for us to witness? Or .. is it simply Vitali is not that good... and a true great champion would have had Old Shot Lewis out of there within 3?
History will remember them kindly, especially Wladimir. It will take some. Wlad will get his credit one day. What really strikes me with Wlad is his empathic story about fighting his way back from the trash to be one of the most dominant hw champions of the world for recent years/decades when everyone had written him off. That if anything shows Wladimir is truely great champion and his story is one of the most inspiring come back stories of modern ERA.
They will be remembered for dominating this era. You can hate on them but they are true ATGs and will be remembered accordingly
Man your right. Most people here does not have a clue who Wlad Klitschko is. America kicked Wlad out of the USA after that pathetic fight against the way undersized Ibragimov. Everyone in the stands was booing Wlad because he fought like he was scared to get hit. For some reason the fans enjoy watching Wlad jab and grab tomato cans that never hit him back. ANd your right, after the Haye fight he has fought against trash.
