Gotta love Tony Thompson! :good

I actually worry for Price in this fight, its all or nothing. If Price loses the rematch, it will be devastating at this stage in his career. I personally think Price will come in with that worry and the experienced Tony Thompson will do the same as before.

Am I the only one who thinks that the immediate rematch is a BAAAAAD idea?

It could do wonders for Price IF he wins it, he sets the record straight right away and can claim a "lucky" punch in the first fight. But this aint a forgone conclusion though. At all. But if Price loses it though? Maaaaaaaaaan. Devastating.

Tony Thompson has been in with the very best still around and is vastly experienced. David is a rookie in comparison. Add to the fact Tony Thompson will have more time to get in better physical shape, condition and more time to prepare. He can go into this fight calm, whereas David Price is the total opposite. Which makes me lean towards Thompson in the rematch.

Can we even take a lot from the first fight? Could we be guilty of taking it under to much consideration for this second fight?

Thoughts, predictions, breakdowns, all welcome. :good

Would not be surprised if now thompson has better money he comes into the fight out of shape even more so and does not care............saying that if hes up for it and does win, prices head may be gone for good

    July I think.

....and thats why I think he is going to get beat again. If he treats it like must win, he will come in erratic and Thompson will find the punch again. Thompson will just walk to the ring, as usual, not a care in the world, like Corrie Sanders vs. Wladimir Klitschko.

Stupid idea for an immediate rematch if you ask me. Everything to lose, what exactly to gain? He only makes it 1-1 if he wins. If he loses it however then...... Holy Maloney :rofl

I think Price will get the result this time, Price is a fighter who will either win well or lose by KO, in the amateurs he was up and down regularly and this will probably be the case now he is a pro fighter.

He's trying to gain back the reputation he had, or thought he had

Price to win but with an out of the norm performance. He'll be bloody petrified of getting caught by Thompson again so he'll box super defensive-first. Crowd there on the night may not like it considering Price is a knockout artist but it's what probably has to be done. Get the W, that's all that matters. He'll wear Tony down and only go for the big KO punches when he's sure Tony won't be able to counter him, I say 9th round TKO or retirement.

One thing I've been thinking about though is what state will Tony come in with? Last time he was a big fat **** who clearly only trained half-arsedly yet still won. Will he do the same again or will that win have made him think "you know what, if I put some effort in and get another big win here then I could get myself another title shot or at least some more big paydays" and he'll come in far better shape and be more serious than he was last time.

Itll be an interesting fight, if price boxes smart he should stop TT in the later rounds who i suspect will be in no condition to go more than 6 rounds.

I see the same result again.

Thompson is too wily and clever to be blasted out and don't think Price can box consistently enough to not be caught.

Which I feel when he does get caught he'll go down again. Just a shame it seems he has really poor punch resistance.

  12. As much as I like Price as a fellow Scouser (and one of the few articulate ones walking the planet) & want him to become a World Champ, it's a real 50/50 for me.

Not sure I agree it's a 'must win' but there you go.

I actually really like Tony Thompson, good guy. In another era he'd have been a titleist at some point.

Honestly, I think Price gets KO'd again.

I don't want to be hard on him because he is such a good bloke and I want him to do well, but it really worries me looking at the KO from the first fight as it was a nothing punch.

I know people say, it was behind the ear and all the rest of it, but seriously, if it was that easy to KO someone just by basically jabbing them behind the ear, no fights would go the distance.

Pains me to say it but, Thompson KO again.

Its incredible to note that a prospect like Price, come fight night, will have only boxed 17 rounds in 3 years. Be interesting to see if he can carry his power into the later rounds against a reasonably decent opponent like Thompson.
