Apparently AIBA is allowing select professional fighters to compete at the next olympics. And apparently Wladmir Klitschko is very eager to add another olympic gold. There are articles in Ukraine talking about him facing Usyk, and this article talking about facing Joshua:

I don't know how AIBA can just allow certain fighters to compete, and what the criteria is. I'd pick Usyk to beat Wlad in the amateurs.

They're probably going to allow each team to have 1 professional.

Why? I'd be very surprised if Wlad could win an Olympic gold at 40, it would be an unlikely achievement after fighting in the pros at a slower pace for all this time.

There is no amateur competition in tennis on the grand scale, so the pro ring competes for the medals.

Sure it would be interesting to see pros dealing with top amateurs, especially to see klitschko vs usyk or somebody but i think its not fair to amateurs. Wlad has money on his side, the best chefs, coaches, camps and everything. Amateurs are financed by their countries and its not bad, but not as good as wlad is.

Second thing is experience, Wlad is almost two decades in prizefighting (against top opponents), he is working boxing. Few top amateurs still have to work on job, or at least go to some college or something where they dont have 100% focus on the sport through whole season.

there is a reason why are pros and amateurs divided, even WSB is not allowing pros with more then 15 matches to compete. Olympic competion is known as competition of spirit, youth, will and pride; wlad had his time, now is time for youngsters to fight for glory!

how would he feel if lennox, tyson or somebody came 1996. on olympics?

Soccer is similar, one team can have only 2 or 3 players over 24 years of age --> they want players with less experience, unless the Olympics would become new World Cup.

i heard that the aiba were moving the age limit from 34-40 and were getting rid of headguards for the next olympics.

If Wlad was an amateur till now he could have been a 5 time gold medalist.

I really don't have any problem with 'pros' competing with the top amateurs, the top amateurs are going to have an advantage in that generally they'll be younger and faster over the three rounds. The scoring will be the 10 point must system and there'll be no headgear.

Haye outlanded Wlad on power shots. If it was an amateur fight Wlad would of lost.
