hopkins wasn't a spring chicken by then either.

but in '02, he wanted to get at jones like larry merchant wants to get at a bottle of raspberry vodka :deal he would have been the first to ko jones, before tarver did it about a year or two later. :deal

I don't think he wanted it that bad. 60/40 was a fair offer.

    LOL, GTFO.

I think Roy would have won an 8-4 or 9-3 type decision. He was blistering fast in 2002. Would have been a good fight though.

In 2002 Jones was beginning to show signs of decline and was facing over matched opposition like Woods and Kelly. Griffin showed Jones wasn't invincible and Tarver a year later would use similar tactics to Griffin to pin Jones Jr on the ropes to almost beat beat him a second time.

Had they fought in 2002 Jones would of had a very tough night but I still think he would prevail. Jones was still exceptional and still had the legs to not be over whelmed by Hopkins pressure and consistently out maneuvered by his mobility.

Hopkins lacked the power to really punish Jones for his mistakes but he was still good enough to give Jones the toughest fight since losing to Griffin. Jones win 7 rounds to 5.

Probably Roy as time goes by Hopkins does better and better. Prime for prime Roy always beats Bernard.

I just don't see it. Hopkins couldn't give a ghost of Roy Jones a tough fight. Hell, Roy won the event when they finally did fight again. Most people thought it was crazy how Bernard was acting.

Jones was a little declined by 2002, but beating Woods the way he did was pretty impressive considering what a good fighter Woods is.

The first BHOPs fight he dominated with an injured hand while being weight drained. At 175 it's his territory against a guy in BHOP who struggled against quicker men. BHOPs gave up allot of rounds to Taylor and Vanderpool, also dropped a good few to DLH.

Also BHOPs at this stage was changing from an aggressive boxer to a counter puncher, which really doesn't bode well against Jones at all.

So on that basis I'd go with a wide decision, if it was a rematch 2000 or earlier though I could see Hopkins being stopped.
